This document discusses public transportation in Quito, Ecuador. It begins with a brief introduction to Quito, providing statistics on its population and founding date.
It then describes the current public transportation situation, including the strategies that have been implemented like electric bus routes and prepaid systems. However, it notes challenges like passenger dissatisfaction, overcompetition among private bus operators, and limited access to outlying districts.
The document outlines key strategies going forward, including making the system more human-oriented and public transportation-focused. It proposes reforming bus management through a citizen committee and semi-public operation. The use of ICT technologies like bus management systems and smart cards is also discussed to improve efficiency, safety and information access
