The document discusses research on the effectiveness of organic farming and agri-environment measures for conserving biodiversity in Andhra Pradesh, India. It finds that implementing organic farming techniques like crop rotations and balanced predator relationships, as well as agri-environment measures tailored to regional conditions, can help protect biodiversity. However, it also identifies gaps in existing research and calls for more primary research and awareness programs to educate farmers on effective agri-environment measures. Introducing such measures in Andhra Pradesh could benefit farmers while also customizing programs to specific regions, sectors, and farms.

Abstract:
Agriculture is a dominant land use throughout much of Andhra Pradesh. Changes to
farming practices have led to concerns about negative impacts on Bio-diversity and
current agricultural policy, which may impact towards conservation of Bio-diversity. There
are possible evidences, which prove that undertaking agriculture in a modern and
conservative approach will provide fruitful results and sustainability for the future. The
objective of this research study is to investigate and describe the nature and coverage of
research pertaining to the effectiveness of organic farming, agri-environment measures as
interventions for conserving Bio-diversity in Andhra Pradesh.
Organic farming is a method of crop and livestock production, in which the use of
pesticides, fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, antibiotics and growth hormones
will not be used.Organic farming promotes the use of crop rotations and cover crops, and
encourages balanced host/predator relationships. Agri-environment measures are
designed to encourage farmers to protect and enhance the environment on their farmland.
In general Agri-environment measures may be designed at various levels, which include
national, regional or local level.By doing so, the farmers in different regions can adapt to
the particular farming systems keeping in view the environmental conditions.
The present study will cover the Godavari districts geographical segment of Andhra
Pradesh for conserving Bio-diversity by implementingOrganic farming and Agri-
environment measures.
In order to elicit the organic farming and agri-environment measures, concomitant impacts
on Bio-diversity is assessed based on secondary data; the present study was conducted
by applying systematic review and content analysis as research method.
3. Evidence gap in the existing research and may have potential for further primary
research is highlighted in this research. Implications for the development of future
research are discussed. The greatest threat to biodiversity derives from trends in
landscape structure.
Introduction of agri environment measures in Andhra Pradesh may benefit farmers
in many aspects. Andhra Pradesh government should take up the responsibility of
providing awareness to farmers and educate them about the effectiveness of agri
environment measures. State level agri-environmental programmes should be initiated
and inclusion of regional and local stakeholders is important during the design and
implementation. The agri environment measures in Andhra Pradesh should be customized
more according to the region, production sector and farm-specific.
