– Peak download rates up to 299.6 Mbit/s and upload rates up to
75.4 Mbit/s
– it transits from the existing UMTS circuit + packet
switching combined network, to an all-IP flat architecture
system.
– Its expected to rollout by the end of 2013
• 5G
– Its not yet official but is being mentioned in research papers
– Samsung has successfully tested its 5G network with 1 Gbps
speed (potentially up to 10 Gbps), and aims to provide service
by 2020.

flexible screens.
Samsung showed off its Youm flexible display. Based on OLED
technology, Youm is just a prototype at the moment

Wearable technology, tech togs, or fashion electronics are
clothing and accessories incorporating computer and
advanced electronic technologies.
8. Replace Cash
The Research conducted by Pew Research Center’s Internet &
American Life Project concluded that 21 percent of smartphone
users say they already use their smartphones to pay the bill.
And by 2020, most people will have embraced and fully adopted the
use of smart-device swiping for purchases they make, nearly
eliminating the need for cash or credit cards

Gesture recognition is a topic in computer
science and language technology with the goal of
interpreting human gestures via mathematical algorithms.
The Smartphones will get more smarter and Touching your
screen would be the second option, as first would be
“Gestures”
10. Self Powered Phones
A phone that powers itself sounds like a dream come true – and it might just
happen. ----with the help of piezoelectric devices.
“Piezoelectric devices can convert mechanical movement into electric current.
They rely on piezoelectric materials, which generate a tiny electric current
when flexed or pressed.”
The latest research into nanomaterials promises ultra efficient systems
that could power your phone using the vibrations of your voice or the
tapping of your fingertips on a touchscreen.
11. Near Field Communication
Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards
for Smartphones and similar devices to
establish radio communication with each other by touching
them together or bringing them into close proximity, usually
no more than a few inches
Present and anticipated applications include contact-less
transactions, data exchange, and simplified setup of more
complex communications such as Wi-Fi.

Access Control: Replacing traditional
keys for either physical access (hotel
room) or control (starting a car)
Ticketing: Replacing paper tickets for
social events and public transportation
Contact-less Payments: Mobile
payments debited from financial or
MNO linked accounts
Interactive World: Marketing and
exchange of information such as
schedules, maps, business card and
coupon delivery using NFC Marketing
tags
Media Sharing: Transfer images, videos,
music between mobile phones
Social media e.g. "Like" on Facebook,
"Follow" on Twitter via NFC smart
stickers in retail stores
