Sacajawea was a Native American woman who served as an interpreter and guide for the Lewis and Clark Expedition in the early 1800s. She helped them explore and map the western United States. Sacajawea knew the local geography and helped Lewis and Clark communicate with other Native American tribes. Without her help and local knowledge, the expedition likely would not have been as successful in obtaining information to create an accurate map of the western territory. The author admires Sacajawea for her bravery and assistance on the expedition.

Sacajawea - Eden B
1. Sacajawea My
Hero
By: Eden Bruner
My hero is Sacajawea. She
helped Lewis and Clark on there
expedition. There expedition was to
go explore and make a map of the
west because no one knew what was
in the west. Sacajawea was a lot of
help because she knew the land and
helped Lewis and Clark trade with
other Native Americans.
Sacajawea was a Native
American born in the 1700's. She
was raised in Eastern Idaho with a
tribe called Shoshone. At the age
of ten she was captured and sold to
a French trader named Toussaint
Charbonneau. Sacajawea got
married to Toussaint and had a baby
named John Baptist. Then
Sacajawea and Toussaint were
2. informed to go on an adventure with
Lewis and Clark because they
needed help to explore the west.
Sacajawea was a lot of help for
the expedition. Lewis and Clark
made a map of the west and arrived
home safely. To thank Sacajawea
Clark took John Baptist to England.
he raised him and gave him an
education because Sacajawea died
and the husband was not going to
take care of him. Sacajawea died in
the 1800's around the age of 25.
Sacajawea was a hero because
she helped Lewis and Clark on
there expedition. She was a great
help because she could trade with
other Native Americans for Lewis
and Clark and she really knew the
land. When Lewis and Clark
approached a Native American tribe
they seemed less harmful with a
Native American woman and a baby.
Without Sacajawea Lewis and Clark
would not have got a lot of
3. information for their map and we
would not be living here.
I chose Sacajawea as my hero
because she is smart and helpful.
She inspires me to learn more about
nature and help other people. I
really admire her.
Sacajawea was my hero. She was
a very good person and she helped
Lewis and Clark a lot. I hope she
inspires other people to learn more
things and one day I hope to be like
her.
