3. What is working at height?
Any work to be performed at a height of 1.8 meters or
above from the ground level where a person is standing is
defined as work at height. Even a job being carried out
below the ground level is classified as work at height. (Eg:
Work in an excavated area is a work at height).
For jobs at more than 1.8 mtr. height, where there is no
permanent platform, the job requires a permit to work
along with a work at height checklist.

balance before the fall this is not always true.

24. Planning For A Rescue
• Whenever working
with the potential of
hanging by a harness,
a rescue plan must
be in effect.
• A written Hazard
Analysis must be
done and employees
must be trained on
the plan.
25. Planning For A Rescue
• The rescue plan must be written in the hazard
analysis
• The goal is to rescue the employee as soon as
possible and limit the hanging time to no
more than fifteen minutes.
• Ensure all the rescue equipment in the vicinity
• Call x 2222 whenever someone has been in a
fall arrest situation
