4. Observation
Temperature : 102 F o
Mucous membrane : Pale
Fracture of the tail could be detected,
Tail Necrosis
Wound on the middle of the tail
No reflexes or perception noticed.
7. Preparation of site
Shaved the tail above the wounded area. Cleaned and dressed with povidone
iodidne.
8. Anasthesia
Injection zokent 10 ml X 1
Sig 0.8 ml intra muscular
Injection Xylodac 10 ml X 1
Sig 0.2 ml intra muscualr
9. Surgical technique
Put an U shaped incision on both dorsal and ventral aspect of the tail.
Disarticulated the joint in between the Coccygeal vertebrae.
Ligated the two lateral and one middle coccygeal artery.
Put subcuticular suture with cat gut.
Put vertical mattress suture with nylon on skin.
Applied cotton with tincture benzoin.
Bandaged
12. ANASTHESIA
Sedation with ring block anaesthesia in recumbent position in dog and cat
Epidural anaesthesia in standing or recumbent positing In bull or cow.
13. SITE
Above the seat of injury
Enough length to cover the vulva in cows and anus in Bulls is left if possible .
15. TECHNIQUE
V shaped skin incision made on dorsal and ventral surface of tail
Raise two triangular flaps of skin
The bases of flaps should corresponds to the intervertebral space
Ligated the arteries
Disarticulated the joint
Skin sutured with simple interrupted mattress sutures.
