5. James Wan Quotes
• “We think craft is important, and the irony has always
been that horror may be disregarded by critics, but
often they are the best-made movies you're going to
find in terms of craft. You can't scare people if they see
the seams.”
• “Not many people realize this, but I'm a really
squeamish guy. When I watch other horror films that
are really over-the-top with their blood and guts, I
cannot watch it. So if my threshold to something onscreen is at that level, you can imagine how my
threshold is to all the pain and suffering that is
happening in the real world.”
6. James Wan
• James wan likes to go for a realist effect when
creating horror films.
• He has a trademark of using ventriloquist dolls
when filming and this is used in all of his films.
This way when watching a horror film it makes
it very distinctive to the audience to know
when its one of James Wan’s films.
9. James Wan and Saw 1
• IN 2003 James directed the horror film Saw with
help from his friend Leigh Whannel who he met
while studying in Royal Melbourne institute of
technology. The two created a short version to
showcase. Three producers saw their short film
and read Whannell’s script that he wrote for it,
they liked it and agreed to produce the film. The
produces had a straight-to-DVD release in mind
but were surprised when the film earned Wan
and Whannell more then originally predicted.
