1. In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products.
Question 1
2. Our poster used the conventions of a
real media product. This was in the
direction of UK hip-hop/grime, and in
order for it to be marketed properly it
needed to follow the similar
conventions of existing hip-hop/grime
posters, as they target a large target
audience both in the UK and other
countries.
Using the convention of looking
directly into the camera because
throughout research, it showed
that the artist wanted to make a
one-on-one connection with each
individual buyer, but not show what
they were all about straight away.
The folding of arms shows the power in which the artist holds
within their music, showing their originality and the ownership and
status that they have. Research showed that each individual artist
in the hip-hop world always has the desire to convey there passion
through there album cover, but also to keep some mystery for the
audience to guess what they have now come out with, both in the
UK and worldwide.
3. Conventions of Digipaks
Our digipak used and
developed the
conventions of real
media products, as it
helped us to think
about how we wanted
to market our artist
and in what way.
After looking at various
other digipaks we
came to the conclusion
that we wanted to
relate it to many other
similar album covers
with the artist face
being the main thing
seen as he is an up
coming artist this was
the one route of him
getting noticed. We
used various shots of
the artist face with the
inspiration of other
artist having different
face shots on their
album covers, as we
wanted to portray him
as who he really was. §
