SINA (ABU ALI SINA)

THE FATHER OF EARLY MEDICINE.
4. BIRTH
Ibn Sina was born C,
980 in Afshana, a
village near Bukhara
(present Uzbekistan) ,
His father name was
Abdullah who was a
respected scholar from
balkh ( present
Afghanistan)
5. EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION :-
Ibn sina had memorised the
entire Quran by the age of 10,
He learned indian arithmetic.
Also studied Islamic
jurisprudence
He studied Metaphysics of
Aristotle but could not
understand until he read the
book AL-FARABI
6. MEDICAL EDUCATION:
Ibn sina turned to medicine by
the age of 16.
He not only learned medical
theory but also learned
philosophy
At the age 18 he becomes a
qualified physician.
His first appointment was
treating the Emir Nuh !! From a
dangerous illness in 997
7. WORK IN MEDICINE
According to some researches the
view of Avicenna in diagnosis and
treatment of some diseases
Such as .
Asthma is more precise then the
findings of modern medicines.
Or in jaundice obstruction his
prescribed medicine are in conformity
with the findings of new researches

He was the author of many
book in different fields .
But some of his famous books
in medicine are:
Al Qanun fil tibb (THE CANON
OF MEDICINE)
Kitab Al shifa (THE BOOK OF
HEALING)
10. THE CANON OF MEDICINE:-
He authored a five volume
medical encyclopedia .
It was used as a standerd medical
textbook up to 18 century
The Canon is a systematic,
comprehensive survey of the
field of medical knowledge.

COMPENDIUM OF MORE THAN 700 "COMPOUND DRUGS

14. DEATH
When he was sick his friends
adviced him to slow down and
take life moderately
He refused and stating that” I
prefer a short life with width to a
narrow one with length”.
He died in June 1037, in his fifty-
six year, and was buried in
Hamadan, Iran.
15. Conclusions and comments:-
HE was a physician, the most famous and
influential of the philosopher-scientists of the
medieval Islamic world. He was particularly noted
for his contributions in the fields of Aristotelian
philosophy and medicine
He gaves enormous ideas and invention in the
field of medicine.
