This document provides summaries of Eastboard Consoles projects for various clients. The projects included designing and building control room consoles and furniture for broadcast facilities, television and radio stations, production companies, stadiums, and educational institutions. The consoles were customized for each client and room, utilizing modular designs and 3D modeling to accommodate equipment and operational needs. Key features included durable materials, customizable monitor mounts, and cable management.

PCR A DESIGN RENDERING
Eastboard designed & built all consoles for WPVI’s new HD facility. Included were two on-air production
suites (PCR A pictured), master control and transmission microwave control, plus 21 editing & voiceover
workstations. We developed a unique modular approach especially for this project that allows WPVI to
disassemble, reconfigure, or add to the components as their needs change. OPERATIONAL AUGUST 2009.

4. Eastboard Consoles WFYI
FURNITURE FOR ELECTRONICS PBS Indianapolis IN
Each of the two Production Control rooms
includes two tiers of producer and director
consoles, a frame-type monitor wall, and
an audio overbridge.
Eastboard worked closely with the
project team at WFYI, and provided
consoles based on our RACKBLOCKS©
Modular System, for Master Control
and two Production Control rooms.
Because RACKBLOCKS© consoles can
be easily modified, WFYI will be able to
quickly reconfigure their control rooms
as future growth requires. This new
facility earned WFYI a second-place
finish in 2009‘s Broadcast Engineering
8th annual Excellence Awards .
Master Control consists

5. Eastboard Consoles AARP Production Center
PROJECT DETAIL Washington DC
This new digital facility
for AARP was built using
high-end materials and
finishes, from Corian
worksurfaces to metallic
laminates. The sleek,
low-profile design gives CONTROL ROOM 1
an open feeling to the
control rooms, while
providing excellent
ergonomics. A track-based monitor arm support
system provides unlimited flexibility to suit operators’
preferences. The “flying saucer” radio interview desk
(below) features a dual concentric pedestal base to
isolate the microphones from worksurface noise
and vibration, and the hexagonal shape allows for
many combinations of host and guest positions.
The entire project consisted of two large production
control rooms, camera shading, audio control room, CONTROL ROOM 2 DESIGN RENDERING
custom graphics suites, and four edit suites using
our EDITOP workstations. This project won the “New
Facilities” catagory in Broadcast Engineering’s 2007
Excellence Awards competition. We’re continuing to
build out the custom edit suites as AARP completes
their digital conversion.

7. Eastboard Consoles ALL MOBILE VIDEO
PROJECT DETAIL “TITAN” Production Truck
The Production area of the truck includes an
ultra-lightweight forward console with plastic
honeycomb worksurfaces and a reversible
bolster at the switcher frame made from
wet-suit material. The two rear consoles each
have three built-in, independently controlled
one-bay LCD monitor lifts, and each console
moves on roller-bearing tracks in the floor for
travel; the legs fold inward, the worksurface
folds down, and the
units are tracked
back & locked into
closed position.
The rear consoles
feature lightweight
PVC doors, and blue
LED accent lighting
over silver and black
Kydex end panels.
The Tape area
(below) includes
this track-mounted
console with two
built-in two-bay LCD monitor lifts. In operating position,
the worksurface joins with the EIC desk, to form a
continuous work area. There’s also a matching rack-
mount forward console. All bullnose edges are beveled
and finished with silver automotive lacquer.
In Audio, the forward overbridge supports CRTs & LCDs,
and incorporates underside lighting to illuminate the
audio board. The rear console is track-mounted and
includes three rear-facing sloped equipment bays,
each with LCD task lighting.
The TITAN Production Truck won the
Technical Innovation Award at NAB2006.

8. Eastboard Consoles NFL Films
PROJECT DETAIL Mt Laurel NJ
This design for this unusual, sculptural edit suite utilizes
patterned and brushed metal laminates, combined with
bent solid hardwood, creating a piece of furniture which
coordinates with the materials and high-end finishes
used throughout the facility. Once again, 3D modeling
allowed for developing the design to meet everyone’s
aesthetic and operational concerns. Special features
included open bases with large pull-out media drawers,
low-profile turrets, and a swiveling monitor platform.

9. Eastboard Consoles Peninsula Productions

Eastboard
designed, built
and installed
the consoles
for Peninsula
Production’s
new facility in
Washington DC.
The production
console fits over
a two-sided base
rack structure,
and incorporates EDITOP
a monitor shelf
fitted to the wall cutout. Equipment is accessible from either
side. A producer desk and audio control room complete the
layout. Master control features tri-facet equipment turrets to
optimize sightlines and ergonomics. The base provides storage
and equipment cabinetry, and the return serves as desk space.
Four suites are outfitted with our EDITOP console, for editing,
graphics & web development. The project also included two
voice-over booths, and a six-bay Ingest console with equipment

10. Eastboard Consoles WFXT Fox
Boston MA
For WTXF, Fox’s latest DTV station in
New England, we once again used 3D
modeling to design furniture and
consoles that would blend well with
the new building’s curved glass walls
and flowing interior spaces.
We built two identical production
control rooms, a two-position
master control room, media prep,
TOC, and the Assignment desk,
along with 30 other workstations
and consoles, and three custom
monitor walls. All twenty edit
suites were fitted with our
EDITOP/34 consoles. Throughout
the project, all worksurfaces and
bullnose edges were fabricated from solid surface materials. Many
special features included illuminated accent panels, built-in power
and data connections, and continuous brush cable grommets.

11. Eastboard Consoles KTRK DTV Facility
PROJECT DETAIL Houston TX
While designing this new
facility for KTRK, we relied
on 3D modeling to resolve
operational concerns, and
coordinate furniture shapes
with the architect’s plans for the building. The
console worksurfaces are covered with stainless
steel foil laminates, trimmed with curved and
beveled solid surface edges, creating a unique,
Master Control design element that combines beauty with in-
credible durability. The consoles feature lighted,
recessed metal-lined cutout details on their side
panels & under-counter
accent lighting. The end
support brackets are water
jet cut from aluminum
sheet and then detailed
with black neoprene
screw caps. Overall, this
project consisted of five
consoles and two open-
shelf type monitor walls.
Special details included
laminated aluminum
monitor bezels, installed
power strips and ceiling
soffits on some consoles.

12. Eastboard Consoles NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL
PROJECT DETAIL Washington DC
Eastboard designed, built
and installed the control
room furniture for National
Geographic Television’s new
production & broadcasting
facility in Washington DC.
The consoles feature
recessed turrets, full
equipment access both
front & rear (using our
hinged, removable access
panels), and curved work
surfaces with bend-formed
hardwood edges. In the
production control room,
the Director and Producer
consoles are sinuous, multi-
angle shapes, forming a
wrap-around environment.
The audio control room
includes a production
console with free-standing
equipment overbridge. The
project also included Video
Control and stand-up Announce consoles.
This three- tier control room, located adja-
cent to the main studio, also serves as a
background for the National Geographic
Channel “Today” show.
