2. 1.The Lemon Tea Kidney Detox
Make lemon tea by squeezing ½ fresh lemon into a cup of hot
water. Drink the tea every morning before breakfast, if using
this tea only. If using a vegetable juice, such as parsley, use the
lemon tea in the P.M. and the veggie juice or tea, in the A.M.
~Time period: 14 Days or as advised by your nutritionist~
You will notice decreased pain or soreness in your lower back,
increased frequency of urination, lighter color in your urine,
fresher breath and a brighter complexion. The results are the
consequence of improved kidney function
~Very important~
Increase water intake
Equal to ½ of your total body weight in ounces,
@ the rate of 4+ oz. per ½ hour
This is should become a lifetime practice

fuel and the detoxifying
enzymes necessary to
clean the digestive
system.
Preparation:
3 carrots
3 kale leaves
2 celery
2 beets
1 turnip
½ bunch of spinach
½ cabbage
½ bunch of parsley
½ onion
2 garlic cloves
1. Mix all the above ingredients.
2. Add considerable amount of water and,
3. Grind veggies in a mixer until liquefied. This method of
preparation is a little different from juicing the veggies in a
juicer, which of course is also excellent.

5. 4. HERBAL TEA DETOX METHODS
The HERBAL DETOX TEA method for cleansing the kidneys is done by
using herbs like ginger, dandelion which act as cleansing agents. It
detoxifies the body and can strike a balance between both the
productive and expulsion forces of the body. Some of the effective
detox teas are:
Ginger-turmeric Detox This tea contains ginger and turmeric both of
which are effective cleansing agents.
Tumeric root-both are available @

7. Other Kidney Detox Tips
Step 1
The key to healthy kidneys comes from supplementing the body with liquid minerals, eating an
abundance of fresh, vegetables and supplementing with green powdered supplements. Fresh
produce helps to cleanse, regenerate and build our bodies by providing our organs with natural
foods that are unadulterated by cooking processes or additives. Green salads with fresh lemon
and olive oil dressing also help keep our organs remain alkalized, energized and cleansed.
Step 2
Cranberries contain an essential nutrient and antioxidant called proanthocyanidin. They are also
rich in quinine, which converts to a substance called hippuric acid that helps to eliminate toxins in
the body. You can buy fresh, unsweetened cranberry juice or place one cup of fresh cranberries in
a blender with half a lemon and pure water to make your own. Grapes and unsweetened grape
juice are also an excellent choice for detoxifying the kidneys, as they help to flush excess uric
acid from the system. Please note however, it is difficult to eat enough grapes to get the true
detoxifying benefit of grapes, so supplements that contain the active ingredient in grapes is the
better option.
Step 3
When magnesium is deficient, due to high blood pressure and toxic overload, kidney function can
be seriously compromised. To ensure that your body is getting enough magnesium, which keeps
the kidneys functioning well while nourishing the body, make sure you eat as many organic, dark
green vegetables as possible. Additionally, seeds, nuts and whole grains will help keep your
magnesium levels where they need to be.
Step 4
Herbs such as dandelion, water plantain, meadowsweet, nettle, parsley and lemon balm help to
detoxify the kidneys through their ability to sweep out waste and replenish the organ with nutrients.
A tea made with nettle and dandelion makes an excellent flush and can be drunk two to three
times a day. A tea made from uva extract, which comes from a type of grape, is ideal for toning
and strengthening the kidneys, while also helping to reduce water retention. Gravel root has long
been used in Chinese medicine for helping to dissolve kidney stones. A tea made by boiling
pieces of peeled ginger root with a few pinches of turmeric added has astringent properties,
helping to rid waste products from the kidneys. Once you boil the tea, strain it and drink it twice a
day until your urine clears. Wu Zi Wan is a traditional Chinese formula made into a tea that
revitalizes the urinary tract by sweeping away excess toxins.
Step 5
Water is perhaps the most important element in a kidney detoxification program. Drink water as
recommended on page 2. Water prevents mineral salts from collecting and eventually becoming
stones that block kidney function. This is NOT the same salt as table salt. Additionally, water will
provide a constant flush to the system, assisting the kidneys in the removal of toxins.

8. SERENITY NEWS: The Lab
Test and kidney function
1. How is it used?
The blood urea nitrogen or BUN test is primarily used, along with the creatinine test, to evaluate
kidney function in a wide range of circumstances, to help diagnose kidney disease, and to monitor
people with acute or chronic kidney dysfunction or failure. It also may be used to evaluate a
person's general health status when ordered as part of a basic metabolic panel (BMP) or
comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP).
2. When is it ordered?
BUN is part of both the BMP and CMP, groups of tests that are widely used:
When someone has non-specific complaints
As part of a routine testing panel
To check how the kidneys are functioning before starting to take certain drug therapies
When an acutely ill person comes to the emergency room and/or is admitted to the hospital
During a hospital stay
BUN is often ordered with creatinine when kidney problems are suspected. Some signs and
symptoms of kidney dysfunction include:
Fatigue, lack of concentration, poor appetite, or trouble sleeping
Swelling or puffiness (edema), particularly around the eyes or in the face, wrists, abdomen,
thighs, or ankles
Urine that is foamy, bloody, or coffee-colored
A decrease in the amount of urine
Problems urinating, such as a burning feeling or abnormal discharge during urination, or a
change in the frequency of urination, especially at night
Mid-back pain (flank), below the ribs, near where the kidneys are located
High blood pressure
BUN also may be ordered:
At regular intervals to monitor kidney function in those with chronic diseases or conditions
such as diabetes, congestive heart failure, and myocardial infarction (heart attack)
At regular intervals to monitor kidney function and treatment in people with known kidney
disease
Prior to and during certain drug treatments to monitor kidney function
At regular intervals to monitor the effectiveness of dialysis
3. What does the test result mean?
Page 8
9. Increased BUN levels suggest impaired kidney function. This may be due to acute or chronic
kidney disease, damage, or failure. It may also be due to a condition that results in decreased
blood flow to the kidneys, such as congestive heart failure, shock, stress, recent heart attack, or
severe burns, to conditions that cause obstruction of urine flow, or to dehydration.
BUN concentrations may be elevated when there is excessive protein* breakdown (catabolism),
significantly increased protein in the diet, or gastrointestinal bleeding (because of the proteins
present in the blood).
Low BUN levels are not common and are not usually a cause for concern. They may be seen in
severe liver disease, malnutrition, and sometimes when a person is overhydrated (too much fluid
volume), but the BUN test is not usually used to diagnose or monitor these conditions.
Both decreased and increased BUN concentrations may be seen during a normal pregnancy.
If one kidney is fully functional, BUN concentrations may be normal even when significant
dysfunction is present in the other kidney.
Note: Protein per se is not the problem; a history of consuming poorly digested protein is
however, and that category is most often red meat.
Review the sample lab report below. This is a
real person who has pretty good numbers
and has no known medical challenges.
Notice, none of this person ’s scores are
out-of-range*.
The numbers related to kidney function are
highlighted in yellow
*Side Bar: We would be remiss not to draw your attention to the glucose
score that is @ the upper limit. In our opinion, this score is noteworthy because this
is a fasting (no food) reading, and the score is still 7 points shy of the maximum
allowable range. Please note that some labs have reduced the range to 60-80,
making this score even more relevant. If you have a score like this, we think you
should 1.watch it more closely and 2. start dietary changes NOW. 3. Ask for your
A1c score, which provides an average of your blood sugar readings over a 90 day
period
