The Outline of Issue Essay-IVThesis Statement: I agree with the statement that employees should keep their private lives andpersonal activities as separate as possible from the workplace because of three reasons.First Reason:-damages professionalism-unethical behavior-ruins companies’ imagesExample: one of my coworkers brought her son to the workplaceSecond Reason:-less concentration-making mistakes-reducing productivityExample: one of my coworkers distracted the meeting by using his cell phoneThird Reason:-causing layoffs-leads to conflicts-creates informal atmosphereExample: gossiping caused a tensional atmosphere in my workplaceConclusion: Separating private lives and personal activities from workplace is the mostimportant rule in business environment for employees because otherwise it causes lack ofprofessionalism, lack of concentration and layoffs.
Separating private lives and personal activities has been difficult for employees wheneverthey are forced to do that. These employees assert that sharing private lives and talking personalactivities create a friendly environment. However, the main goal of companies is how to increaseproductivity. For this reason, I agree with the statement that employees should keep their privatelives and personal activities as separate as possible from the workplace because of necessity ofbeing professional, keeping high concentration and preventing layoffs. First, professionalism is the most important thing for employees. To be professionalrequires separating private lives and personal activities from the workplace. Otherwise, they willdamage the company’s image. For example, one of my coworkers often brought her son to theworkplace, and she wasn’t able to focus her job. She couldn’t do the right things because she hadto pay more attention to her son than her assignments. That behavior ruined our department’simage, and it was seemed unprofessional by customers who visited the company that time. Second, concentration is the other important key while working because lessconcentration will probably lead to critical faults which reduce the productivity in a workplace.In addition, employees who have less concentration undermine the synergy in the workplace. Forinstance, I was working on a serious project with my coworkers. When we were in meeting, oneof them was distracting the meeting by using his cell phone. So, we couldn’t concentrate on theproject, and we couldn’t finish it on time. Third, employees should separate their private lives and personal activities; otherwise,they can be laid off because sharing private lives and personal activities can cause conflictsbetween employees. If the tension between employees increases, the manager will fire one ofthem who cause the tension.
