“TELL ME A STORY, PLEASE!”
Lamego, a city of History and with a lot of stories …
Let’s find it out!
ONE OF THE OLDEST CITIES IN PORTUGAL
Where is Lamego?
• The Sé Cathedral of Lamego was founded in 1129. It is a Gothic
cathedral, retaining the original square tower, but the rest of the
architecture reflects the modifications made in the 16th and 18th
centuries, including a Renaissance cloister with a dozen well-centuries, including a Renaissance cloister with a dozen well-
proportioned arches.
• The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies is located in the parish of Sé,
city and municipality of Lamego, Viseu district, Portugal.
• At the top of Mount St. Stephen, the sanctuary is now an integral part
of the panorama of the city to which it is joined by a staircase.of the panorama of the city to which it is joined by a staircase.
• Since 1984, the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies includes
the staircase and the park.
• Lamego Castle is located in the parish of Almacave.
• Originally a mountain castle, currently its two inner and outer walls are
inserted in the urban fabric. Ex-libris of the city, from the top of its walls can
be seen the waters of the rivers Coura, Balsemão and Varosa.
• These rivers flow into the river Douro, in Régua.• These rivers flow into the river Douro, in Régua.
Our historical city has a legend just like other ancient cities! …
The legend of princess Ardínia, a story of an
impossible LOVE between a Moorish Princess and a
Christian Knight (Xth century, during the fights of
the Christian Reconchist).
Today we still have the history, the gardens, the monuments, the rivers, the tourism, the schools, the
leisure activities, the friendly and affable people, the inhabitants of Lamego, the “lamecenses” …
BUT, as we know, in any city or school we have to worry about the environnement …
Ecological gestures in
my school

In my school there

Renewable energy sources in my
citycity
•In my city exists
renewable energyrenewable energy
sources. The wind
towers, to harness the
power of the wind, which
will produce wind energy.
There is also a
dam, the Varosa
dam.
In my city many people
have already joined the
use of photovoltaic
panels which is better
for the environment

(……….)
We thought about “The little Prince” and about everything he has taught us.
It was a lesson of responsability and friendship.
Let’s see what his author wrote:
“To be a man is to be responsible, it is to feel that collaborates in the world construction.“
