This document provides guidance for peer editing a paper called WA2. It outlines steps for peer editors to check for surface issues like typos, read the paper aloud to the author, and consider questions about the paper's content, use of sources, pictures, and discussion of literacy practices in a community. Peer editors are asked to provide qualitative feedback on the paper's clarity, use of sources, discussion of artifacts and literacy practices, and effectiveness of any pictures. Authors are instructed to make corrections based on the feedback, assign their own grade, and reflect on how they can improve their paper.

and other structural concerns—trying reading
from the last paragraph and work your way
up.
• Before returning the paper, read it aloud to its
author.

3. Found Literacies
• WA2 calls upon you to describe literacy practices as they
function in the community you are researching. You are
encouraged to use both images and text in the development
of this argument. I will expect you to refer to articles and
terms we have discussed in class (i.e. Barton and Hamilton)
and to use them to explicate the preliminary research you
have done in the field.

discuss artifacts and the literacy practices around them? Do
they draw from observations and interviews? Do they use
any scholarship (i.e. sources like Barton and Hamilton)? Do
they use pictures? Should they use pictures?
Minimum Requirements
Qualitative
• Is the paper clear and concise? How well do they use Barton
and Hamilton? Do they discuss artifacts and scholarship
effectively? Do they use pictures effectively (i.e. do they
relate to the text)? Are literacy practices in the community
clearly identified and discussed? Do they relate those
practices to the scholarship and artifacts? Are there any other
concerns?
