Notas do Editor
brand-new pop-based magazine aimed at teens and adults
genre of pop music.
The purpose is to entertain
And introduce a range of both large and niche artist.
Also educate on pop artist and the history of the genre.
Inform readers about pop music.
Promote music artists, venues and products to create revenue.
My magazine will be sold both online and as a monthly print.
magazine can be bought online to be sent to customers as a physical copy
customers have the option of an online digital subscription
customers can decide the period of time they will pay for the magazine.
I have decided for the digital magazine to cost £10 for 6 issues and then a rolling subscription of £15 for every 12 issues
The cost of the physical copy will either be £4.99 for a single issue, and then a rolling subscription of £20 for every 6 months.
A whole year for the pure pop magazine will cost £40, this will include the price of delivery.
I decided the price when comparing it to other large magazines, I decided to make the price slightly cheaper as my magazine is niche and new to the market, so it won't have as much credibility as other known magazines.
Customers who decides to purchase a physical magazine, will also have access to all online issues, there will be a QR code to get the exclusive access.
I have decided to try and Aim for my magazine to have 30-40 pages in it, I have compared this to other magazines.
I want the magazine pages to matte with a glossy front cover.
I have decided for my genre to be pop.
The genre pop is the most popular music genres in the world with hundreds of millions of people who actively listen to the genre daily.
Pop is one of the most listened to genres in North London making it a great reason to use it for my magazine.
Pop music is commonly listened to by the young generation, typically 16-25.
The content in my magazine we be pop genre-based, I will be focusing on the era of the 2000s.
Making a genre specific magazine means I can speak both artist, venues and any eras in time (e.g.2000s)
doing a genre-based magazine gives me as the writer a lot to write about, especially as pop is the most listened to genre.
I want my magazine to talk about artiest and venues related to pop, but also relate to North London, for example speaking about North London venues which are known for holding pop artists.
Making my magazine genre pop will be a good idea as it is incredibly popular within North London.
Pop is my preferred choice of genre to listen to in my own time, meaning I have the most knowledge of the genre pop and is the genre I am most passionate about, meaning it would be silly for me to make a magazine talking about a different genre.
The content in my magazine will Include various artists that are pop related, various venues that are largely related to pop concerts and festivals, products that are related to pop, for example music artists merchandise.
Advertisements will also be part of our magazine as it is way for us to get a source of money from our magazine.
The magazines will have many articles talking about all things pop, I will including posters, quizzes and other fun games.
I want to include a different interview from either a big or small pop artist in each issue of my magazines, as well as including features and reviews.
I want the magazine to be appealing, both the physical and online copy.
My primary audience for my magazine will be young adults aged 16-25.
I will not target any specific gender, race or sexuality.
the social grade for my magazine will be A,B, and C1 as the magazine is both a luxury and seen as something unnecessary for the price.
making my magazine both pop and 2000s will entice my target audience as the era is something that is in trend at the moment. Making our magazine 2000s pop will make our magazine stand out and attract our demographic.
I have chosen for my secondary audience to be a younger sibling who is interested in similar music or who looks up to the older siblings and wants to be like them so they read the same magazine.
The resources I need order to make my magazine is I need to have digital cameras, lens, tripods, lighting and backdrops, a graphic tablet, a computer, software for example adobe photoshop or photopea, Microsoft word or google docs, props for photoshoot, photographer, models, a studio space, transportation for equipment and staff, and an external hard drive. all of these are necessary resources that will help to make my magazine come together.
the personnel that is necessary when composing my magazine is a photographer will need to take professional photos to make high quality photographs for my images within my magazine, a videographer will be needed to video high quality videos for the online version of my magazine, an editor will need to edit the photos for my images as well as an editor to edit videos for the online magazine, a graphic designer will help to make the graphics within the magazine for example the front cover and headline font. A printer company will help to supply all of the physical print copies of my magazine.
when starting my magazine, I will not be using all of the personnel I have listed as I have a small budget, I will make the decision on which tasks I feel I can do myself and others I feel are necessary for professional companies to use for example I will not print my magazine in house or use models for my magazine that are expensive. once my magazine is established, I will use all my personnel I have listed and maybe even more if our brand expands.
The resources I need order to make my magazine: digital cameras, lens, tripods, lighting and backdrops, a graphic tablet, a computer, software for example adobe photoshop or photopea, Microsoft word or google docs, props for photoshoot, photographer, models, a studio space, transportation for equipment and staff, and an external hard drive.
The personnel I need to make my magazine: photographer, videographer, editor, graphic designer, printer company, and article writer.
when starting my magazine, I will not be using all of the personnel I have listed as I have a small budget I will make the decision on which tasks I feel I can do myself and others I feel are necessary for professional companies to do, this is because I will be a start up company with a small budget.
When distributing my magazine, I want to publish it in as many places as possible, for example hard copies will be sold in newsagents, newspaper stands, supermarkets, and airports.
We will sell our physical magazine online as well , when bought on our website it will be delivered to the customers’ homes, the magazine can also be purchased on websites such as WHSmith’s, Ocado, Amazon and Boots.
we want give customers the option between a hard copy and online copy meaning if they want, they can purchase the magazine as an online form instead of a hard copy.
The online copy will be assessable on digital devices including kindle.
Having our magazine sold in as many palaces as possible means that people will be able to buy the magazine from almost anywhere making accessible and means more people will buy it, this will also help to reach to a much wider range of people.
When we advertise our magazine, we will promote it on various social media apps which our target audience will be able to see, by making ads specifically to our target audience on apps like Spotify, Tik tok and Instagram we will have a higher chance of reaching our audience and getting more subscribers. We will have pop related celebrities do product placement for our issues which they are seen in. We will have a new magazine every month to endorse people to stay up to date with the latest on pop. We will have our own social medias where we promote our new issues showing potential customers previews of upcoming issues. Our main promotion we will have is the more magazines you purchase for a period e.g., 1 moth, 3 months… the price will be reduced per issue. Our main way of promoting our magazine will be on social media as it is free and if we make both good and unique content we have a chance of making it viral, something that has been done by other businesses and is seen as successful, for example the airline Ryanair has gained millions of views from connecting to a newer audience on tik tok, I think replicating this will be a great source of marketing for the magazine as well as it is free advertisement, something which can be taken for advantage as the budget is small.
For the double page in my magazine, I will be writing an article on an interview with a pop artiest, by deciding to do this I will be able to make an exclusive live video version of the interview on the pure pop website exclusively for customers who are subscribed to the digital version of pure pop magazine. I will promote the interview on the front cover of my magazine issue, the artiest I decide to use will be the main image for both the front cover and double page of my magazine, having an exclusive interview with a pop artist will entice potential customers to buy the magazine.
The mood board I have created will help with the planning for my real magazine as it includes images such as pop based magazine front covers, pop artists, colour schemes and font ideas. The client brief was both short and much of the brief being open to interpretation meaning I am able to make a lot of decisions to make the magazine the best it can be while also showing off my originality and creativity throughout my magazine. When planning my magazine and making the decision for my final idea I have made sure that I have followed the client brief and have made sure my magazine is within the brief. The mood board I made below shows inspiration for both my double page spread and front cover for my magazine. I added font ideas that remind me of pop and are also fun, I also added a colour scheme that I think would be exiting and eye catching.
