2. There is no obligation to QSL
BELOW
A recent commercially
produced card from 2E0ENG
ABOVE
An early QSL card from Lowton
station of Stan Ince G6LC
3. Information to include
Name
Address
Locator
Call Sign
The words CONFIRMING OUR QSO
Please / Thanks QSL Via
Station Details Transceiver, Antenna etc
19. D-I-Y Cards
I use MS Publisher to produce my cards
But there are a number of similar and FREE
Desk Top Publishing programmes that you
can use.
Linux users will probably have Tex which is
very like Publisher
20. Slashed Zero
0
Here is a link to download type fonts with a
slashed zero
www.g0hwc.com/ham_radio_fonts.html
The one I use is called HAM and is very
similar to Arial
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
(HAM)
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 (Arial)
21. PRINT AS A6 CARDS
High Gloss A6 Photo paper can be
obtained at most £ shops, but if you
are going to produce double sided cards
make sure they have a matt printable
rear surface and that the back does not
contain logos e.g. Kodak or Fuji Film
etc.
22. START with an Idea on Paper
Before you start sketch out your ideas on paper and
make a list of what information you wish to
include.
You may wish to include WAB or IOTA
information
Locator e.g. IO83rl or WAB (O.S.) square e,g.
SJ69
Some competitions or awards require the card to
state CONFIRMING OUR CONTACT or the
recipient can not claim the points.
24. You may like to clarify Postal addresses e.g.
Golborne, Warrington WA3 3XZ, is not good for
Warrington or Cheshire or even Lancashire, but is
good for Wigan and Greater Manchester for some
awards, but is good for WA3 post codes awards.
The Same goes for those parts of Wigan that have
Manchester post codes, M29, M46 good for Wigan but
not Manchester or Lancashire but OK for post code
awards, again similar for Newton-le Willows, Haydock
St.Helens with WA postcodes good for St.Helens and
Merseyside Not Lancashire, Warrington, Cheshire
etc., and the St.Helens parts of Billinge with Wigan
Addresses and Post Codes have the same problems
25. Examples

Note appropriate verse from Isaiah 65:24 That took some finding !!
32. Housekeeping
Producing your cards on your PC means you
do not have to buy large quantities but
produce them in required quantities as and
when required and alter them as appropriate
such as adding a special letter such as O or
Q recently or adding a regional letter such as
W when operating in Wales
Although many amateurs are avid card collectors there is no obligation to QSL however if you do there are a few hints in this presentation. Don’t forget to send envelopes to the buro and remember if you are a member of the RSGB you will now have to subscribe to this service. Make sure you read the instructions for the buro that can be found in the call book
Some of the information you may like to include on your card
This is a grid I use it is saved on my PC as a jpeg file
This basic card shows another grid made with MS word and again saved as a jpeg
Special prefix for olympics and photo taken by me in Lowton
Well you all know what I did at Christmas
Mobility Scooter Mobile shows how you can produce card fronts
Your standard card can be used as the back of a double sided card
Logos and other illustrations can be downloaded from the internet
Let me talk you through the production using a DTP programme
Front shows SES call sign, WACRAL logo Tells what event is and shows location
Again this could be the back or a stand alone card.Note pre dated and station information also pre printed
