2. Once upon a time, there was a big landlord. He had
a very large farm with a big farm-house. A metal
cock had been fixed atop the farm-house to indicate
the direction of wind.
3. The weather-cock, so high above the farm animals,
was in a very good position to crow aloud. But, in
fact, it never crowed because it was only a metal
cock, not a living one.
4. Now, a cock also lived on the farm-yard. He was very
proud of his red crest, shining wings and his loud
cock-a-doodle-do. He was in the habit of boasting
and bragging too much especially before the hens
and the little chickens. Sometimes he would brag
unbelievable lies also.
5. One day the cock said to the hens, “Don’t think that
cocks can’t lay eggs like you. They can, but each cock
lays only one egg in life. And that egg is so big that
it contains a dragon in it. The dragon is so terrifying
that men die as soon as they look at it.
6. So, you see, human beings are very afraid of cocks.
Thus we are the real masters of the world, not the
men at all.”
7. The metal weather-cock heard the boast of the cock.
But he simply snorted out of disdain. He had, in
fact, seen and heard so many things in life that the
cock’s empty boast had not surprised him at all. On
the other hand, he had felt very amused and a bit
angry also.
8. The weather-cock knew well that the cock’s boast
was hollow like hot air. But it felt so superior in its
high position that it thought it just below its dignity
to say anything against the hollow boast of the cock.
9. So, it remained an undecided question which of the
two cocks was the superior.
10. THANKS….
Soon will be back with one more
