Upward communication is essential to solve

performance reports, grievances and

information.
It encourages participation, helps to know
feedback, develop goodwill etc.

facts and rumors are passed.
For e.g. Gossip, hear-say, rumors are kinds
of Grapevine communication.
Can do great harm or good to an
organization; it may cause workers to loose
their morale or work with double vigor.

Grapevine means “the informal transmission
of information, gossip or rumor”.
Transmit information rapidly and in many
cases faster and with a stronger impact than
formal system allows.
Grapevine is undocumented and therefore
open to change and interpretation as it
moves through network.
It is not time bond, topic bound, and
language bound.
