1. Supporting literacy through technology Elementary Enrichment Programs

2. Abstract Supplementing a student’s education, using a combination of literacy and technology, is the basis for this elementary enrichment program. Students will be offered a challenging and exploratory project whereby they will act as junior authors and compose, narrate and illustrate a book using the most up to date technology available.

3. Is there a need for these programs? YES Currently, there are no programs for gifted/talented and/or high achieving students in this school The K-3 students accessed the computer lab less than three times for the whole 2008/09 school year

6. Topic for program Junior Authors The students will create a story and turn it into a book, using technology for graphics and narration. Throughout this process, the students will develop a strong sense of reading and writing skills, as well as knowledge about the specific type of technology and/or software that they choose.
