Gaining Self Confidence on the Phone!

Are you the type of person that loves to use the telephone, or are you one of those that can't
stand talking on the phone and feel uncertain with that to say?

Telephones are a consistent part of day to day life and business. If you would like to get
the most from your line of business then you certainly need to be relaxed and self-assured on
the telephone. Gaining telephone confidence will help you excel in your career which in turn
will improve your sales and overall income.

Developing self confidence on the phone is far easier than you may think. By making use of a
few simple approaches you will be able to increase your self-confidence and feel better and
happier about speaking on the telephone.

Approach One: Positive Attitude

This is especially important if you want to get a positive end result from your call such as a
meeting or a sale. Before placing a call, think about the reason you are calling and what you
would like to accomplish during the conversation. Keep your attention on this goal while
speaking with a prospective client. This will ensure that you know what you want to get out of
the call and don't get sidetracked. It also conveys a clear message to the person you are
speaking with which will help you to get the outcome that you desire.

Approach Two: Smile

Yes, the other person may not be able to see you, but that is not the purpose of smiling while
speaking over the phone. Smiling has been proven to change the tone of your voice and the
other person will pick up on this sub-consciously. Smiling when speaking on the phone will
help the other person feel more comfortable and relaxed, and you will feel cheerful when
smiling which will help your self-confidence a great deal more.

Approach Three: Stand Up

Stand while speaking on the phone. If you are standing in a manner that makes having self-
confidence more convenient then you will positively have more self-confidence. Stand tall and
straight with you stomach in, chest out, shoulders back, and head up! This is a posture full of
self-confidence. When you are standing up and speaking, this assurance will shine through to
the person you are speaking to and will assist you to get your preferred outcome from the call.

With the telephone being such a significant part of business and life, you must self-confidence
while using it. The more comfortable and self-assured you are with the phone, the better your
overall results will be!
