The RG Company: Fleshed Out
About the RG Company
In December 2014 a small group of LSDA (London School of Dramatic Art)
graduates decided to take part in a scratch night organized by the Young Friends of
the Almeida. Arghierenia Kyrimi then wrote a short play in the given topic; what is
value? And the group directed themselves and presented their work at the Almeida
Theatre on 14/12/14. The short play was then adapted for the screen and with the help
of filmmakers Jenny Pagoni and Luke Sterling Jackman, the group created their first
short film. In January 2015 Arghierenia Kyrimi decided that with the skills she had
acquired from leading the group through that journey, she had the tools to establish a
theatre company and start producing her own work as well as give the opportunity to
other young talented people to break into the industry. The name of the company
derives from Arghierenia’s nickname; Argie.
Mission statement of the RG Company
The RG Company aims to give a voice to young talented actors, writers, directors
and other theatre practitioners who have lots to offer in this industry, but no other
ways to be heard. Together we wish to create work of high standard and through our
plays address many different topics and issues.
What is Fleshed Out?
Fleshed Out is a play written by Arghierenia Kyrimi in the course of two years. It
started as records of the writer’s emotional outbursts and therefore we like to think of
it as a real play. It is a play made up by monologues that were not written to be shared
with the public, but were only put together when Arghierenia was asked to bring a
sample of her work in a drama class. There she presented them as exaggerated
versions of personal experiences, instead of 100% true experiences as the truth is and
only admitted the truth when she realized that the issues addressed in her monologues
were not as personal as she thought. They are issues that affect many people and
should therefore be shared with many people. In the end the monologues were
arranged into a play and were given the name Fleshed Out. Some of the issues
addressed in the play are anxiety, rejection, eating disorders, gender identity,
being an immigrant, being misunderstood, insomnia, fear of flying and dealing
with death. The play finishes off by addressing the question “What is real?” in a final
extra monologue.
The RG Company has chosen Fleshed Out to be the first play they produce as it is
simple, real and we believe that every person out there can relate to at least one
monologue.

Arghierenia Kyrimi (Artistic Director, Writer and Lead Actress)
My name is Arghierenia Kyrimi and I was born and
raised in Greece. I moved to London in August 2012 to
pursue a career in the theatre and film industry. In 2013 I
completed a diploma in Theatre Design at the UAL and the
following year I trained in Acting at the London School of
Dramatic Art.
I have been writing in the English language since I was
11 years old and for years I had been very secretive about
my work. In 2013 it was the first time I gave my screenplay
The Persistence of Truth to people to read and give me
feedback. My screenplay, though it was written and edited
in a month and a half, reached the final rounds of the
British Independent Film Festival’s screenwriting competition. This boosted my
confidence and I started sharing my work with friends and industry people always
receiving positive feedback leading to me feeling confident enough to want to start
producing my writing.
I am the Artistic Director of the RG Company and in Fleshed Out I am the writer
and lead actress. Fun fact: I have changed the spelling of my name so that it is written
phonetically. So come on give it a go, there’s no way you’ll get it wrong.
Catherine Carpenter (Associate Director, Director and Composer)
My name is Catherine Carpenter and I am the director
for the production of Fleshed Out. I have loved theatre
since a very young age and have been performing since I
was 5 years old. Over the years I realised that I loved
creating and developing theatre as well as performing it
so I assisted directed a play at college. This led onto my
decision to continue with directing and learn and
experience as much of it as I could so I could develop
further. In 2013 I set up my own theatre company and I
produced and directed the first play, which was a great
success. Since then I have directed plays but also a few
short films and two independent feature length films.
Directing films has been a great learning curve but theatre is where my heart belongs
and to watch a production evolve and blossom, and to trigger emotion in an audience
(whether that is positive or negative) is the greatest enjoyment and achievement I
could ask for. When I first spoke to the writer of this play, I was immediately in love
with not only the context, but also the style of writing. It was so honest and brave but
was left so open for creation and I knew instantly that I wanted to be a part of it. Each
monologue has a relatable issue that can be associated with at least one audience
member but they also have the ability to portray humour, which enhances the piece as
a whole even more. Each member of the RG Company is committed and passionate
and this inspiring, educational and entertaining piece of theatre will challenge
perceptions, break stigma, encourage, make people laugh and cry and leave people
with questions, opinions and interpretations. I truly believe that I am part of
something great and this experience as a Director has broadened my mind and I know
will develop my confidence and ability more and more.

Dior Clarke (Associate Director and Supporting Actor)
My name is Dior Clarke and I’m fascinated with
performance, both on stage and film. I was born and raised
in North London and drama has always been an important
part of my life. Acting has always been a form of escapism
for me, as well as a passion. Initially the interest was
sparked through my passion for dance and this led onto a
love for acting.
In 2013 I completed my A-Levels in Sociology, Media
and Theatre Studies at Highgatewood Art College. The
following year I trained in Acting at the London School of
Dramatic Art. I always adored film but whilst training at
The London School of Dramatic Art I grew a soft spot for
theatre. So far in my life I've been doing all I can do to progress as a working actor
and have had successes. However I have come to realize how challenging the acting
industry is. But despite the challenge I remember the buzz I get when acting. This is
why I think it’s important as a young upcoming artist to create your own work. And
this is what the RG Company is aiming to do.
The group is full of young creative individuals who share the same drive and
passion for the craft. We all are determined to make a positive impact in the world of
theatre from different angles. So we have joint as a force combining our unique
talents in order to produce a masterpiece.
Fleshed Out is full of deep and gritty themes which most people can relate too. The
social aspects of the play are hard hitting and have the potential to affect an audience
in various ways. I'm thrilled to be part of such an amazing play as well as a fantastic
team.
Sadie Cameron (Arts Administrator and Stage Manager)
My name is Sadie Cameron and I am the Stage Manager
for the production Fleshed Out.
I have always adored the theatre from a young age and I
became particularly involved in the arts from the age of 9
when I joined a Saturday drama group. Throughout my
educational experience it has appealed to that I have a very
strong minded and determined approach to my work, I feel
very comfortable in leading and following as well as
contributing to group efforts. I have a firm attention to
detail which drives my work forward.
Upon first meeting with the writer and director I became
very attached to the social aspects and hard-hitting themes
of Fleshed Out and finding a play with such relatable and realistic issues in it is an
opportunity I never pass on as I love reality in theatre. I work well in a creatively
driven group and this company is just full of creative minds all dedicated to bringing
light to the public over these hard-hitting issues. I'm thrilled to be a part of such an
amazing play as well as a fantastic team.
