Reflections on Travel to Romania
By Zaza Tsiklauri
Before our trip to Romania, through the internet I acquired some information on the culture,
history and major sightseeing of the country.
But as Georgian saying states “It’s better to
see once than to hear hundred times.” This saying
has been proved to be true from the very arrival to
Bucharest – the city which appeared to be very
beautiful even beyond my expectations.
Bucharest is the capital of one of the beautiful
countries in Europe. Everything in this city was
eye-catching and memorable for me - its broad
and beautiful streets with heavy traffic and “cool”
cars. I was fascinated with the city architecture.
The next city in our loaded agenda was Constanta – sea resort of Romania. It was as beautiful as
Bucharest or any other European resorts, but it also had its own character and beauty.
During our trip we have also visited Romanian village Kumpana. However, I would like to
admit that this “typical” village exceeded my expectations both with its development and
infrastructure. I was very pleased with hospitality of local population and government officials. As
regard to Romanian traditional cuisine - it is really delicious and somehow resembles Georgian
cuisine.
Romanian youth were very communicative and friendly. From the very beginning I felt their
hospitality and warmth. We had several very interesting meetings with our peers.
I was also impressed with volunteering spirit of Romanian peers. I could not imagine that one
can do so many good things on a volunteering basis as Romanian youth does for their communities.
The whole exchange visit had a big influence on me and I returned to my homeland full of new
experiences and sweet memories on the days spent in Romania.
