2. VICTORIAN FARMHOUSE
The Victorian farmhouse was designed to simulate a house that appears to have been
there for at least 100 yrs. It was important to blend the new construction home with the
surrounding neighborhood of downtown Northville. Engineered lap siding and cedar
shake were used to help obtain this timeless look. The garage was designed to look like
a carriage house with rear entry doors and a covered porch for access to the main
house. The bonus room above the garage is easily accessible from the second floor
through a walkway above the portico. The stairs were located in the rear of the house to
give easy access from the living spaces of the first floor to the second. The wall of
windows in the stairway provides picturesque views of the back yard. The custom
made Amish kitchen is centrally located to all other rooms of the first floor. The
detailed trim work including wainscoting and crown molding throughout the home
provide charm and character, necessary to obtain the feel of a Victorian farmhouse.
The covered front porch with seating area is a nice place to gather for views of the
quaint neighborhood.
