This document discusses education providers' responsibilities regarding assistive technology and accessibility. It notes that education institutions are required to make reasonable adjustments if a disabled student would otherwise be at a substantial disadvantage, such as not penalizing a dyslexic student on an exam. Institutions also have an anticipatory duty to avoid future discrimination by making appropriate adjustments in advance. The document provides links to additional resources on assistive technology and inclusive learning.
3. Education Providers' Responsibilities
In addition to not treating a disabled person 'less
favourably' for a reason relating to their disability
(by, for instance, marking a student down in an exam because
they are dyslexic), institutions are required to make
'reasonable adjustments' if a disabled person is
placed at a 'substantial disadvantage'.
Anticipatory:
Duty to make reasonable adjustments to avoid
discrimination against disabled people in the future
and make any appropriate adjustments in advance.

Whatever your ideas, the fact remains that there are MANY types of disabilities and MANY ways of making learning accessible for these.
We have to be aware of all ways in which we can enable the learner (ALL of our learners) to learn and for this reason – the following analogy is offered:
The DDA states:
“Discrimination against disabled applicants or students can take place in either of two ways:
by treating them "less favourably" than other people or,
by failing to make a "reasonable adjustment" when they are placed at a "substantial disadvantage" compared to other people for a reason relating to their disability.” AND THEN “Under the Act, there is a responsibility to make anticipatory adjustments. This means that institutions should consider what adjustments future disabled students or applicants may need, and make them in advance.”
