2. Daily Expectations*
(1) Students will remain respectful of ALL staff, students, and school materials and equipment.
(2) Students will attend their assigned sessions, every day, on time, until their Plato course is completed
and approved by their teacher.
(3) Students will remain focused and working during their entire session.
Examples of off-task activities:
- Texting / Talking on phone
- Talking and hanging out with peers during the session
- Playing games
- Surfing the internet for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
- Asking to go into the hallway or bathroom repeatedly
(4) Students must sign out with their teacher, and use a hall pass in order to leave the class-room.
*Please see attached “Non-Negotiables” for a more detail listing of expectations.
Student Dismissal:
Because of the structure and timing of the night school program, all policies and procedures are fluid,
and may be altered to best suit the success of the program.
A student may be dismissed from attending night school if they cannot comply with the Night School
Non-Negotiables and/or the daily expectations.
If a student is removed from night school, they will still be allowed to complete the course within the
same given amount of time. In this instance, the student will be expected to complete ALL tutorials
and mastery tests away from school (at home). The student will be required to take their exams under
the individualized attention of an administrator.
3. PLATO ONLINE COURSES
What Is This?
The student is not actually instructed by a teacher.
Their entire course is set up through an online software program.
The student will learn all of their content through the program’s tutorials. (This is just like when a
teacher has their students take notes in class and read books.)
The student’s understanding of short chunks of material is assessed each section. (These are
comparable to short quizzes a teacher might give their students each week.)
The student will take a final unit test to show they have complete knowledge of that unit content.
Just like a regular class, the student will also take a final exam. This will show their understanding of
the entire semester’s / course’s content.
Plato-Lingo
“Tutorial” = Animated text that students click through to learn the content.
“Mastery Tests” = Section quizzes.
“Unit Post Tests” = Unit tests.
“End of Semester Exam” = Same as any final exam you would take regularly in school.
“Offline Work” = Assignments or Activities that are available like printable worksheets or handouts.
How Is The Course Graded?
Your grade is 100% based on your Mastery Test, Post Test and Final Examscores. The higher you get on these
assessments, the higher your grade will be.
