 Search engines are designed to search for specific
 information on the world wide web (www) and FTP
 servers.

 These are programs that search documents for
 specified keywords and returns a list of relevant
 documents where the keywords are found.

 The search results are generally presented in a list of
 results or "search engine results pages". The
 information may consist of web
 pages, images, information and other types of files.

• Spider “crawls” the web to find new documents (web pages, other
  documents) typically by following hyperlinks from websites already in
  their database.

• Search engines rank the resulting documents using an algorithm
  (mathematical formula) by assigning various weights and ranking factors.

• Search engines indexes the content (text, code) in these documents by
  adding it to their databases and then periodically updates this content.

   Spider, Indexer, Database, Algorithm
   Find matching documents and display them according to relevance
   Frequent updates to documents searched and ranking algorithm
   Strive to produce “better”, more relevant results than competitors
SEO?
 SEO (Search engine optimization) is the process
 of improving the visibility of a website or a web
 page in search engines via the organic search
 results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked
 on the search results page), and more frequently
 a site appears in the search results list, the more
 visitors it will receive from the search engine's
 users.

 SEO may target different kinds of search which
 may be image search, video search etc…
SEM?
 SEM (Search engine Marketing) is about the
 paid search marketing of a website or a web
 page in via sponsored or In-organic search
 results.

 It is sometimes referred to as CPC (cost-per-
 click) or PPC (pay-per-click)
 marketing, because most search ads are sold
 on a CPC / PPC basis.

BLACK HAT SEO?
• Keyword stuffing: Packing long lists of keywords and
  nothing else onto your site will get you penalized eventually
  by search engines.

• Invisible text: This is putting lists of keywords in white text
  on a white background in hopes of attracting more search
  engine spiders. Again, not a good way to attract searchers
  or search engine crawlers.

• Doorway Pages: A doorway page is basically a “fake” page
  that the user will never see. It is purely for search engine
  spiders, and attempts to trick them into indexing the site
  higher.
