5. The voluntary pursuit of any activity, which encompasses
concern for energy efficiency, environment, water
conservation and use of recycled products & renewable
energy, can be defined as "Green".

28. • 40 % saving in power consumption
• 30 % saving in water consumption
• All power equipments proposed to be run CENTRALLY
• Use of clean energy ( natural gas) for power and air-
conditioning
• Extensive use of natural day-light through unique
planning ( 3 atriums )
• Bio-waste management for kitchen
• Extensive use of environment-friendly recycled material
29. • High COP (Low IKW / TR), Vapour absorption
machines(VAM) using waste heat generated through gas
genset exhaust as heat source to generate chilled water
– satisfying half of the building load
• Variable speed drive on all AHUs and large ventilation
fans
• Variable air volume system comprising of VAV boxes for
Board Room, Meeting rooms and cabins
• Car park exhaust system equipped with CO (Carbon
Monoxide) sensors
• Double-skinned Air Handling Units
Air–conditioning & Ventilation System
30. • Heat recovery wheels for pre cooling fresh air by using
the waste exhaust air from toilet etc
• Indoor air quality sensors in office Areas to modulate
the fresh air quantity entering in AHU room through the
use of motorized modulating volume control dampers
in fresh air Louvers
• Variable speed secondary chilled water distribution
system
• Selection of highly efficient fans for air handling units

31. Electrical & LV Systems
• Timers and photo-electric sensors to be used to switch
ON / OFF external landscape and facade lighting
• Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL’s) with high
frequency ballast to be used for corridors and BOH
areas
• Energy efficient fluorescent tube lights (T-5) to be used
• All fluorescent light fixtures are specified to
incorporate electronic chokes which have less watt-loss
compared to electro-magnetic chokes and result in
superior operating power factor
32. Electrical & LV Systems
• Dimmers shall be provided for public area
• Motion sensors shall be provided for corridors lighting
• Photo electric sensors and occupancy sensor shall be
provided in the office spaces
• An APFC relay based on thyristor switching is proposed
to effect the power factor correction / improvement
within a few cycles of deviation from the setting & also
to reduce inrush currents
• All cables shall be derated to avoid heating during use
33. • VFD based hydro-pneumatic system
• Pumps & equipment selected on “best” energy
efficiency point
• Pressure reducing valves shall be provided where
abnormally high pressures are envisaged
• Appropriate flow restrictors shall be provided for
economizing on water consumption
• Automatic air vent shall be provided on cold water
risers to ensure efficient water flow
34. Water Supply & Plumbing
• All water closets shall have cisterns of 4 to 5 litres
capacity ( < 1.3 Gallons per flush)
• All running taps shall have flow less than 1.2 Gallons
per minute
• Urinal < 0.5 GPF based on automatic sensors
• Hot water return piping shall be provided to minimize
hot water delay time thus benefiting in water & energy
conservation
35. Integrated BMS
• Computer based system controls and monitors Electo-
mechanical equipments - AHUs, Chillers, Lighting,
Power Systems, Fire Systems, Pumps & Water
Management systems, Lifts, Video Surveillance, Access
Control etc.
• BMS manages the environment conditions & helps limit
and regulate Energy consumption with minimal human
intervention.
• Lights, Cooling/Heating parameters are connected to
BMS through Occupancy Sensors. Due to this, energy is
not wasted, when areas of building are left empty.

37. DYSON AIRBLADE
• A comparative test found that both paper towels and
the Airblade dried hands fast, achieving 90%
dryness in about ten seconds, supporting Dyson's
claim of ten seconds drying time. A conventional
warm air dryer took 47 seconds.

doesn’t inspire people, it will not last. If we get it right,
sustainable design promises to bring art and science together.”

LED Lighting
Lightbulbs have changed quite a bit lately. Compact fluorescent lamps were introduced as highly efficient alternatives to traditional bulbs before 100, 75, 60 and 40-watt incandescent light bulbs are phased out of production by 2014..The good news is that the bulb is so efficient that if every 60-watt incandescent in the country were replaced, $3.9 billion and 20 million metric tons of carbon emissions would be saved in one year.
