8. HISTORY
The first government in Serbia was the Byzantine
Empire.
It was annexed by the Ottoman Empire in 1540.
Serbia became independent in 1878 following the
Russo-Turkish War.

When Austria declared war
on Serbia, World War I
officially had begun.
In 1941 Hitler began his
attack on Serbia.
The Serbian Serbia is now a republic.
