II. The Consequence: Immorality 
Where do young people get these ideas about 
sexuality? 
Some people point to sex education classes. 
The root of the problem seems to be the media. 
Boys have twisted views of how to look at girls. 
Girls are made to believe they are sex objects.
66% of young people (10-14) 
said they learned about sex 
from the media.

magazines alone, an average of 2.5 pages per issue are 
devoted to sexual topics. 
• The coverage of sex as a health issue in magazines is more 
common than on TV. 
• The main focus when it comes to sex in teen magazines is 
upon deciding when to lose one’s virginity.
II. The Consequence: Immorality 
Health Risks: 
• Self-objectification detracts from the ability to 
concentrate and focus one’s attention. 
• Self-confidence is undermined, leading to shame, 
anxiety, and even self-disgust. 
• Eating disorders ensue. 
• 80% of 13 year old girls report having dieted.
II. The Consequence: Immorality 
Sexting: 
• The sending of sexually explicit messages or 
images by cell phone (Webster’s Dictionary) 
• Viewed as a modern form of flirting
