6. A400M - Flight Test Achievements
High altitude campaign - La Paz & Lima
• 11 flights performed
• Take-off performed at 8300 ft and 13300 ft
• Consistant results for T/O & L/G performance tests
• Very good behaviour of pressurization
• Radar & SATCOM provided very accurate
weather detection during ferry flights.
• Propeller Optimized synchro-phaser configuration
may not be equal for comfort in cargo and
PGB vibration levels
• Very satisfactory behaviour of engines during
high-altitude campaign.

Receiver task evaluation behind VC10 Aircraft
0
16 dry contacts performed in 3 flights
From this experience the AAR laws and
nozzle design have been upgraded
• 2nd phase (May 2011)

9. A400M - Flight Test Achievements
External noise
• Exceptionally low noise levels for a military aircraft
• A400M will comply to ICAO annex 16 chapter 4 regarding
take-off, approach and sideline external noise
• Certification tests completed early May 2012 : more than
200 passes above microphones installed on ground in
Moron Air Force base (Spain)
• Gathered data will enable both civil certification and
military qualification (configurations with
Air- to air refuelling devices)
• Tests completed last week, comfortable margins for
take-off, and analysis ongoing for approach cases
10. A400M - Flight Test Achievements
Asia demonstration tour
• 6 successfull demonstration flights in
Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand
• Additional tests performed in hot and
humid conditions for O-Bogs and powerplant
• Aircraft operated in normal operations
(loading/off-loading, flights with
passengers up to 30)

12. A400M - Where We Are Today
• Demonstrated compliance with EASA requirements for an initial Type
Certificate
• Engine issues last year introduced some delays, but solutions found and we
are almost back on schedule
• F & R on MSN 6 with production standard engines delayed due to vibrations
being out of in-service tolerances on one engine. Engine change in progress
• Engine failure on MSN 4 under analysis
• Good reactivity from EPI of engine/propeller to identify the root causes and
implement corrective actions on test units
• MSN 7 progressing well for delivery to the French Air Force at the turn of the
year
