Introducing XM®
• The Allen-Bradley® XM® series is a group of
intelligent, specialty I/O modules designed for machinery
protection and condition monitoring. The XM modules
monitor critical machinery parameters such as
vibration, temperature, position, and speed.
• This information is processed within the XM modules in
real-time using advanced amplitude and frequency
alarming techniques to determine whether machinery is
operating within acceptable parameters.
• When limits are exceeded, XM modules can notify
operators, capture data and/or actuate relays as
appropriate for the detected fault. The XM series of
modules communicates over DeviceNet or may be
deployed as stand-alone solutions using built-in 4-20
mA outputs, integral relays and buffered outputs.

Discrete DIN Rail mounted modules…
• That can be mounted near to the machine to minimize wiring expense and
complexity.
• That have no special rack or power requirements.
• That use an open standard industrial bus to communicate between them
and the rest of the world.

Each module includes everything that it needs to operate, including tachometer, relays, 4-
20mA circuits and communications processors. This allows each module to be located
based on the application without requiring duplication of supporting chassis, power and relay
cards, tachometer cards, communications processors, etc.

– Modules are DIN rail mounted and connect to the rest of the XM system via integral side
connectors or standard DeviceNet™ cabling. Modules may be mounted in existing
cabinets, wherever space is available, or in dedicated enclosures especially designed
for the XM footprint.
– Compared to traditional rack based systems XM consumes at least 60% less volume
and far less weight making XM particularly beneficial when space and weight are of
concern.
• Off-the-shelf Power Supplies
– All XM modules operate on standard 24V power.
