Story Of An Hour Analytical Essay
"The Story of an Hour" is one of many short stories written by Kate Chopin. I believe there are
numerous symbols in this story, but the one I think stands out the most for me is Mrs. Mallard's
heart trouble. The first line of the story starts out with "Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted
with a heart trouble." (Chopin 1) While this can be read as physical heart troubles, the more you
read into the story, it reflects on emotional heart trouble as well. If you take the statement by Mrs.
Mallard, "Free! Body and soul free!" she kept whispering, (Chopin 2) it reflects that her heart and
soul are free from the strains for her husband. In the end her emotional heart trouble was so great,
she could not overcome the site of her husband and the

Story Of An Hour Analytical Essay
The short story "Story Of An Hour" written by Kate Chopin is considered as a scandalous story of
political reflection and unethical message about a woman, who is told that her husband has been
in a fatal car crash. After receiving the news she walks off and stares into the window and smiles.
Professor reading this would think that the window is a symbol of freedom, and once she steps
out in the new world she is free as a bird. "Scandalous" is what reporters would say in this era
because a woman without a man had as much hope in making it in the world, as a dog that could
did not bark around strangers. It's possible, but it never happens. Quote "She has taken on a
different angle of life now, she is upset about her husband's sudden death, however; she has
something to be happy about it." What she has something to be happy about is the insurance
check, and having no kids or family to share it with, that is the side of the story that makes it
unethical in the eyes of the reader. The reason why it is unethical because at this time of fatal
tragedy of a spouse she is happy . Therefore death was her only ticket out. The...show more content...
Chopin was well known for writing short stories that centered on women who are faced against
diversity. "The women in her stories normally choose their own path rather than what is accepted of
them in the eyes of the society". Even though this statement is true, it is quit ironic that the thought
of a thought of widow with the bright future would soon meet her demise. After reading this poem
a person would think what the message of this story is valuable to the cause. The message of that
woman has few opportunities in life. The women in the story look outside and see the world in a
whole new life just because her husband died in this time the reader would think that the woman
being portrayed in the story would suffer from a nervous breakdown or

Analytical Essay: The Issue Of Obesity
Obesity is huge problem in the twenty–first century, but the people that have control over this do not
care. In a materialistic society, money is everything. In food corporations, it appears that profit is
also everything. Of course, this applies to their marketing strategies. Corporations have to be more
for the consumer, or else they would have no business. However, consumers are still being tricked
by these corporations. Granted that many corporations may offer low prices, decent tasting products,
and great inventory of product, consumers fall for this as opposed to other products that are much
healthier. It should not be this way. The activities offood and marketing corporations must change in
order for the issue of obesity to change for the better. The attitude of marketing groups is a huge
reason why obesity is such a...show more content...
Before there was a call to break these groups, the marketing world ran as it pleased. This would refer
to the years prior to the mid–1970s. It is odd how marketing was extremely laissez– faire back then,
but the majority of consumers were in rather decent health (Soechtig 2014). In fact, Katie Couric,
the narrator of Fed Up, mentions that obesity would affect only around five percent of children
during this time (2014). Still, many people saw an issue with this statistic. A separate committee in
the United States Senate worked on a plan to help tackle the way food was being processed during
the mid–1970s (Soechtig 2014). Their work was called the McGovern Report, which was named
after the committee's chairman George McGovern (Soechtig 2014). The report took note of common
dietary issues and it attempted to give better habits in eating certain processed foods. Unfortunately,
for consumers, food and marketing corporations fired back, and the original ideas to the McGovern
report were trashed. The many companies that complained realized that this report would cause a
huge loss in profit. One of the center points to

Immigration CAA Paper
Background
Uncontrollable, problematic, and overly populated are words that come to mind when immigration
is mentioned. For many years' immigration has become a huge problem throughout the world, in
several places. Immigration is the migration of non–native citizens into a country with the hopes of
settling there ("immigration"). People of different ethnicities settling into another country without
citizenship is illegal and creates a lot of controversy. This controversy can stir up things such as
racism, over population and more. Most immigrants that migrate to another country move for
multiple reasons. These reasons could be to...show more content...
A lot of immigrants who go to another country cause a lot of criminal activity such as drug
trafficking, prostitution, and identity theft. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, another
23 percent, more than 43,000 illegal aliens, were convicted of drug offenses (Gemma, Peter B.).
Out of all the drug offenses that is a lot of charges just for illegal aliens as a specific category.
Immigration isn't something that has just recently occurred in the world. It is something that has
been going on for as long as people can remember. Immigration isn't something that is going to stop.
Its also not something that can be fixed completely
Personal Perspective: I feel that immigration is one of the biggest issues that face the world in whole.
Immigration is an important topic that needs a lot of attention and something that needs to be
influenced to seize. It brings so much conflict between governments and individuals, causing
disputes amongst them. I often here so much about immigration on the news nowadays. I feel that
immigration isn't a bad thing but when it begins to be illegal is when I feel it becomes the problem.
I hear of people coming into America for different reasons such as financial benefits and
employment. I think the biggest issue about it is getting those illegal immigrants back across the
border. I strongly feel that the illegal immigrants that go to another country to do bad things such

Analytical Essay Othello
Shakespeare is prominent in his use of recurring themes throughout his works, particularly those of
love, death, and betrayal. All these themes are present in Othello. Most dominant, however, are
manipulation and jealousy. Jealousy runs the characters' lives in Othello from the beginning of the
play, when Roderigo is jealous of Othello because he wishes to be with Desdemona, and to the end of
the play, when Othello is furious with jealousy because he believes Cassio and Desdemona have
been engaging in an affair, but manipulation the prominent action that fuels the jealousy within
Othello. Some characters' jealousy is fashioned by other characters. Iago is involved in much of this,
creating lies and implementing confusing situations....show more content...
He is clever in his diction to avoid confrontation that can easily erupt. An example of Iago's
manipulation is when he and Roderigo confront Brabanzio about his daughter. Brabanzio does not
believe what the two say about Desdemona, calling it ridiculous, and he becomes angry because he
has been woken up in the middle of the night. Roderigo immediately starts to explain, which only
angers Brabanzio even more. Iago, on the other hand, responds by actually complimenting
Brabanzio. Brabanzio yells, "Thou art a villain" to which Iago responds, "You are a senator". The
father is taken aback by this surprising comment and it causes him to step back and re–examine the
situation, which eases his anger and causes him to believe the two storytellers, especially when he
finds Desdemona missing from her bed chamber
However, along with his word choice, Iago is clever at the timing of what he says. He knows
exactly what to say and when to say it to incite jealousy within anyone he wishes. He uses this
particularly well with Roderigo and Othello. An example of Iago's timing of jealousy is when he
speaks to Roderigo of the suspicions regarding Desdemona's love for Othello. "Mark me with what
violence she first loved the Moor but for bragging and telling her fantastical lies. To love him still
for prating? Let not thy discreet heart think it. Her eye must be fed". In this excerpt Iago represents

published "The competences required delivering an effective cognitive and behavioural therapy for
people with depression and with anxiety disorders" (Anthony D. Roth and Stephen Pilling, DOH,

Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme, with additional funding from Skills for

from a recognition that the success of the IAPT initiative would rest on the success of competent
practitioners who were able to offer effective CBT interventions at both a low and high–intensity

Analytical Research Essay
Before I begin my essay, I feel it is best if I explain what an Analytical Research Essay actually is.
When you take the word analytical it is asking you to analyze the literature. I will be taking a
deeper look into three different short stories. Two of my favorite short stories this semester were
"Dead Man 's Path" by Chinua Achebe and "A Clean, Well–Lighted Place" By Ernest Hemingway.
My third choice was a short story by Viginia Woolf called "A Haunted House."
"Dead Man's Path" was written by a man named Chinua Achebe who was a devout christian. He was
very talented and began learning English by the age of eight. While he was an undergraduate he

and forward. Making you reflect on some of your own actions throughout life. As my grandmother
always told me "Measure twice, cut once."
Ernest Hemingway's short story "A Clean, Well–Lighted Place" focuses on the significance of life.
We are given three different characters, whom each have a very different view on it. Hemingway is
a very famous American author, and this was one of his shortest short stories. I was impressed and
satisfied with the message he left to his readers.
Here we have an old man, a young waiter, and an older waiter. The story starts off with us finding
out the old man tried to commit suicide. The two waiters went back and forth as to why. As the
story progresses, we start to see the demeanor of the young waiter. Who is disengaged to the older
man's situation. The older waiter gives insight as to why this old man is spending so much time in
the cafe. All while trying to help guide the younger waiter to not be so self centered.
I feel Theme is the best critical approach to discuss in this short story. The formula here is set with

Jung, C. G. (1972). Two essays on analytical psychology
Jung's Two Essays on Analytical Psychology includes the works The Unconscious in the Normal
and Pathological Mind and The Relation of the Ego to the Unconscious, which are 1928 revisions of
previously written papers. Jung, who was Freud's well–known disciple from 1909 to 1914, held
ideas different from Freud's and Adler's that eventually led to personal differences between them,
particularly with Freud; their followers have continued these differences. One of the point of
disagreement is Jung's opinion that Freud's concept of the libido is too concerned with sexuality
and that Adler's will to power is also too simplistic. Alternatively to Freud, he calls the libido the

On the other hand, Freud and Adler had difficulty in refusing the development of both humanity and
the individual and were rigid in their beliefs.
Jung believed that psychic energy had its foundation in the tension of opposites; this energy could
only be used when the proper gradient was found. He also introduced two very different theories of
neurosis, with the first focusing the object and the second emphasized the subject, are viewed as
manifestations of an oppositional type. The introverted personality type focuses on the subject while
the extraversion type focuses on the object; however, these two types are rare observed in their
unadulterated state. Moreover, the dynamics of a relationship between individuals who retain
contradictory personality types was examined by Jung. Alternatively, to contrast with the concepts of
Freud and Adler, they describe neuroses as sometimes allocating useful adaptive functions.
The Unconscious in the Normal and Pathological Mind
Jung considers and discusses the concept of the collective unconscious as well as its role in the
process of transference within psychotherapy. He suggests that the traditional method of dream
analysis which must be followed by a discussion when it is believed that the symbols presented
originated in the collective unconscious. Jung has noted the process of unification of the

Abstract
Carl Gustav Jung was bone July 26, 1875 (Feist and Feist, 2002). He was blessed to be surrounded
by an educated family, including clergymen.Carl Jung as a young man was a colleague of Freud. His
life's work was exploring the unconscious. Freud's theory of the unconscious made the unconscious
sound unpleasant. It involved crazy desires, incestuous cravings, and frightening experiences that
would come back to haunt a person. Based on Freud's theory, one would understandably be terrified
of making the unconscious conscious. Jung,...show more content...
Jung observed psychotic patients as they were confronted with the task of responding to a list of 50
words. He compared their delusional ideas to myths trying to understand them. Shortly after, he left
the hospital position, and broke away from Freud. He began to analyze his own dreams and fantasies
in order to further confirm this hypothetical other layer of the unconscious. He began to focus on
broader collective elements he called archetypes. Jung believed that archetypes had a regulatory
function beyond the sexual drive. His primary treatment for his patients involved treatment of their
unconscious. Jung believed that the archetypal images were the principal structural elements of the
unconscious that was express in myths and other collective narratives. His major therapeutic
technique was drawing parallels between the archetypal images and his patients' dreams and
fantasies. Delving into psychology more in depth initiated speculations by Freud and Jung and left
the specific synaptic and neural materialization of unconscious processes to be inferred. In an
attempt to avoid the problem of dualistic thinking and of treating the mind as separate from the body
without relying on known data, Jung's speculation about unconscious archetypes united drives and
spirit, matter and psyche, reached for solutions tying human behavior to genetic predispositions.

My primary source for the Analytical Research Paper is a tweet that I came upon on August

topic is that the more attention we draw to terrorist attacks, the more we are falling into their trap
and fearing them. Also, they explained that when the videos are posted, it makes it much easier
for terrorists to copy. For example, in this case, getting in a car and driving it into a crowd of
people seems extremely straightforward and easily accomplished. The more I read these types of

realistic. Referring back to what I said about social media taking over society nowadays makes not
posting these videos practically impossible. I also thought about why they can't take the video down

I've remembered the video almost perfectly ever since I watched it the day of the attack. It stuck in
my mind so well because of the amount of fear that it caused me. Knowing that these innocent

Gossip: An Analytical Research Paper
Gossip Analytical Research Paper
Introduction
Gossip is recognized, in some circles as a method for spreading information between a group of
people who have an intimate knowledge of one another. It is seen by linguistic anthropologists as a
primary method for communication in some circles, and it has been a technique for many
thousands of years. This is not a gender specific activity, although some may think it is, but it
crosses many different demographics. This research paper is an attempt to convert a set of song
lyrics ("Rolling in the Deep") to gossip, and then to explain what the experience of conversion
means.

cells have two important characteristics that differentiate them from other types of cells. One is that
they are unspecialized cells that rejuvenate themselves through cell division. The other is that, under

For certain people this is life saving news. Now that cells can be specialized under these

Moreover, if stem cell research is legalized world–wide, who is to say that people will use it only to

clearly affecting the world that we live in today by a long shot more than any other symptom out
there. For example from the age 18 years and older 18% of the U.S populations have anxiety
disorders, that's 40 million people that are affected by this disorder known as anxiety. Only

Young Goodman Brown Analytical Essay
Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is an eerie story filled with ambiguity. The
storyline can be seen as linear. Young Goodman Brown, the protagonist, leaves his village to go on
a journey into the woods then experiences this and that until he reaches the gathering of evil
worshippers. While it sounds straightforward, Hawthorne uses a lot of rhetorical devices to make
his story frightening and leaving the reader to ponder the goodness of humans. He uses techniques
such as allegories, symbolism, and foreshadowing. Besides his writing style, however, religion plays
an important role in the story. The use of religion starts the story and sets the theme of good versus
evil. Puritanism greatly influences Hawthorne's tale. It can be inferred that Young Goodman Brown
is a story where Hawthorne criticizes and indicts the Puritan society by adding Puritan values and
beliefs to it.

Abortion Analytical Essay
Abortions: Morally Acceptable or Not?
The issue of abortion is one of the most sensitive and controversial issues faced by modern
societies. This issue leads to topics of whether abortion is right or wrong, if it is the actual killing
of a person, and what actually defines the moral status of a fetus. In this paper, I will be arguing
against Bonnie Steinbock, who believes that abortions are morally acceptable. So I will be
supporting the view that abortions are not morally acceptable.
In Bonnie Steinbock's essay, "Why Abortions Are Not Wrong," she argues that abortions are morally
acceptable because fetuses are non–sentient beings and therefore lack interests as well as moral
status. Her first premise suggests that it is wrong to kill...show more content...
Although, Steinbock's third premise suggests that some abortions are the killing of a non–sentient
organism. By this she means, some abortions may be immoral for many reasons such as, trivial
reasons, sex selection, fetal reduction, and vengeful abortion. The trivial reasons are of little worth
and importance. Steinbock describes the story of a girl not wanting to be pregnant in the summer
because she would be unable to wear a bikini. She concludes that this would be a very immoral
reason for having an abortion. Sex selection refers to the "destruction of a healthy fetus just because
of its sex to be immoral, either because of the sexist attitude or because such abortions reflect
insufficient respect for potential human life." Fetal reduction is the practice of reducing the number
of fetuses in a pregnancy with more than one fetus. Steinbock states that this is rather difficult and
understands this practice. Vengeful abortions are the seeking to harm someone else beside the fetus.
Steinbock describes it as, a woman who might have an abortion to seek revenge on her husband
because he was unfaithful to her earlier in their marriage. Steinbock concludes that these reasons are
all bizarre and can result in the killing of non–sentient beings.
After reading Bonnie Steinbock's article, I will be arguing against her conclusion that some abortions

had a damaged heart. "The Story of An Hour" also includes the following characters; Mr.Mallard
who is of course Mrs.Mallard's husband, Josephine who is the sister of Mrs.Mallard and lastly
Richards who is a friend of Mr.Mallard. This narrative takes place in the Mallard's residence,
mainly in a room where Mrs.Mallard isolates herself, placed in a chair that directs her view right out
of a window. Though it...show more content...
Like everyone has already mentioned, there is no documented reason or motive behind why the
tile transformed into a different title but both titles absolutely fits the description of the story.
"The Dream Of An Hour" represents the confusing segment in the story when Mrs.Mallard
became overly joyed with the claims that her husband was dead, just to find out he was actually
alive in reality which perfectly fits the description of a "Dream". Dreams can provide you with
whatever you plead for but dreams do not last forever, eventually you must return to reality and
sometimes reality can leave you hurt or like in Mrs.Mallards case, overwhelmed which lead to
death. The title that actually made it as the "Legit" title, comes off as "Here Are The Facts!". The
word "Dream" was replaced with "Story". The replacement word "story" immediately captures the
attention of potential readers because it comes off as more personal and that is most likely why the
title was reformed, or better yet;

  • 1. Story Of An Hour Analytical Essay "The Story of an Hour" is one of many short stories written by Kate Chopin. I believe there are numerous symbols in this story, but the one I think stands out the most for me is Mrs. Mallard's heart trouble. The first line of the story starts out with "Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble." (Chopin 1) While this can be read as physical heart troubles, the more you read into the story, it reflects on emotional heart trouble as well. If you take the statement by Mrs. Mallard, "Free! Body and soul free!" she kept whispering, (Chopin 2) it reflects that her heart and soul are free from the strains for her husband. In the end her emotional heart trouble was so great, she could not overcome the site of her husband and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Story Of An Hour Analytical Essay The short story "Story Of An Hour" written by Kate Chopin is considered as a scandalous story of political reflection and unethical message about a woman, who is told that her husband has been in a fatal car crash. After receiving the news she walks off and stares into the window and smiles. Professor reading this would think that the window is a symbol of freedom, and once she steps out in the new world she is free as a bird. "Scandalous" is what reporters would say in this era because a woman without a man had as much hope in making it in the world, as a dog that could did not bark around strangers. It's possible, but it never happens. Quote "She has taken on a different angle of life now, she is upset about her husband's sudden death, however; she has something to be happy about it." What she has something to be happy about is the insurance check, and having no kids or family to share it with, that is the side of the story that makes it unethical in the eyes of the reader. The reason why it is unethical because at this time of fatal tragedy of a spouse she is happy . Therefore death was her only ticket out. The...show more content... Chopin was well known for writing short stories that centered on women who are faced against diversity. "The women in her stories normally choose their own path rather than what is accepted of them in the eyes of the society". Even though this statement is true, it is quit ironic that the thought of a thought of widow with the bright future would soon meet her demise. After reading this poem a person would think what the message of this story is valuable to the cause. The message of that woman has few opportunities in life. The women in the story look outside and see the world in a whole new life just because her husband died in this time the reader would think that the woman being portrayed in the story would suffer from a nervous breakdown or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Analytical Essay: The Issue Of Obesity Obesity is huge problem in the twenty–first century, but the people that have control over this do not care. In a materialistic society, money is everything. In food corporations, it appears that profit is also everything. Of course, this applies to their marketing strategies. Corporations have to be more for the consumer, or else they would have no business. However, consumers are still being tricked by these corporations. Granted that many corporations may offer low prices, decent tasting products, and great inventory of product, consumers fall for this as opposed to other products that are much healthier. It should not be this way. The activities offood and marketing corporations must change in order for the issue of obesity to change for the better. The attitude of marketing groups is a huge reason why obesity is such a...show more content... Before there was a call to break these groups, the marketing world ran as it pleased. This would refer to the years prior to the mid–1970s. It is odd how marketing was extremely laissez– faire back then, but the majority of consumers were in rather decent health (Soechtig 2014). In fact, Katie Couric, the narrator of Fed Up, mentions that obesity would affect only around five percent of children during this time (2014). Still, many people saw an issue with this statistic. A separate committee in the United States Senate worked on a plan to help tackle the way food was being processed during the mid–1970s (Soechtig 2014). Their work was called the McGovern Report, which was named after the committee's chairman George McGovern (Soechtig 2014). The report took note of common dietary issues and it attempted to give better habits in eating certain processed foods. Unfortunately, for consumers, food and marketing corporations fired back, and the original ideas to the McGovern report were trashed. The many companies that complained realized that this report would cause a huge loss in profit. One of the center points to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Critical Analytical Argument On Immigration Triston Norris Ericka Galluppi HUM 115– Critical Analytical Argument Immigration 3/26/16 Immigration CAA Paper Background Uncontrollable, problematic, and overly populated are words that come to mind when immigration is mentioned. For many years' immigration has become a huge problem throughout the world, in several places. Immigration is the migration of non–native citizens into a country with the hopes of settling there ("immigration"). People of different ethnicities settling into another country without citizenship is illegal and creates a lot of controversy. This controversy can stir up things such as racism, over population and more. Most immigrants that migrate to another country move for multiple reasons. These reasons could be to...show more content... A lot of immigrants who go to another country cause a lot of criminal activity such as drug trafficking, prostitution, and identity theft. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, another 23 percent, more than 43,000 illegal aliens, were convicted of drug offenses (Gemma, Peter B.). Out of all the drug offenses that is a lot of charges just for illegal aliens as a specific category. Immigration isn't something that has just recently occurred in the world. It is something that has been going on for as long as people can remember. Immigration isn't something that is going to stop. Its also not something that can be fixed completely Personal Perspective: I feel that immigration is one of the biggest issues that face the world in whole. Immigration is an important topic that needs a lot of attention and something that needs to be influenced to seize. It brings so much conflict between governments and individuals, causing disputes amongst them. I often here so much about immigration on the news nowadays. I feel that immigration isn't a bad thing but when it begins to be illegal is when I feel it becomes the problem. I hear of people coming into America for different reasons such as financial benefits and employment. I think the biggest issue about it is getting those illegal immigrants back across the border. I strongly feel that the illegal immigrants that go to another country to do bad things such Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Analytical Essay Othello Shakespeare is prominent in his use of recurring themes throughout his works, particularly those of love, death, and betrayal. All these themes are present in Othello. Most dominant, however, are manipulation and jealousy. Jealousy runs the characters' lives in Othello from the beginning of the play, when Roderigo is jealous of Othello because he wishes to be with Desdemona, and to the end of the play, when Othello is furious with jealousy because he believes Cassio and Desdemona have been engaging in an affair, but manipulation the prominent action that fuels the jealousy within Othello. Some characters' jealousy is fashioned by other characters. Iago is involved in much of this, creating lies and implementing confusing situations....show more content... He is clever in his diction to avoid confrontation that can easily erupt. An example of Iago's manipulation is when he and Roderigo confront Brabanzio about his daughter. Brabanzio does not believe what the two say about Desdemona, calling it ridiculous, and he becomes angry because he has been woken up in the middle of the night. Roderigo immediately starts to explain, which only angers Brabanzio even more. Iago, on the other hand, responds by actually complimenting Brabanzio. Brabanzio yells, "Thou art a villain" to which Iago responds, "You are a senator". The father is taken aback by this surprising comment and it causes him to step back and re–examine the situation, which eases his anger and causes him to believe the two storytellers, especially when he finds Desdemona missing from her bed chamber However, along with his word choice, Iago is clever at the timing of what he says. He knows exactly what to say and when to say it to incite jealousy within anyone he wishes. He uses this particularly well with Roderigo and Othello. An example of Iago's timing of jealousy is when he speaks to Roderigo of the suspicions regarding Desdemona's love for Othello. "Mark me with what violence she first loved the Moor but for bragging and telling her fantastical lies. To love him still for prating? Let not thy discreet heart think it. Her eye must be fed". This essay has been particularly difficult for the writer to achieve due to the challenges they face in the transition from a Person Centred Counsellor to a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in Training. The writer hopes to achieve a comprehensive critical reflection and analytical research based on a common human problem that has been assessed in the clinical setting. Taking all researchers in thoughts into account and the therapist's own experience, CBT does work in giving structure to a client's therapy and recovery and equally the client's relapse prevention. To ensure IAPT services' are working to a high standard in September 2007 the Department of Health published "The competences required delivering an effective cognitive and behavioural therapy for people with depression and with anxiety disorders" (Anthony D. Roth and Stephen Pilling, DOH, September 2007). The publication was the result of a project commissioned by the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme, with additional funding from Skills for Health and the Centre for Outcomes, Research and Effectiveness (CORE). This project stemmed from a recognition that the success of the IAPT initiative would rest on the success of competent practitioners who were able to offer effective CBT interventions at both a low and high–intensity level. Roth and Pilling describe a model which identifies the activities that characterise effective CBT interventions for people with anxiety and depression. The model organises the CBT competences into five domains (generic, basic, specific, problem–specific and met competences) and presents a 'map' of how the competences fit together. In their report they outline a variety of potential uses for the CBT competence framework, including its use in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Angela Galazzo Professor Rubenstien English 209 7/16/17 Analytical Research Essay Before I begin my essay, I feel it is best if I explain what an Analytical Research Essay actually is. When you take the word analytical it is asking you to analyze the literature. I will be taking a deeper look into three different short stories. Two of my favorite short stories this semester were "Dead Man 's Path" by Chinua Achebe and "A Clean, Well–Lighted Place" By Ernest Hemingway. My third choice was a short story by Viginia Woolf called "A Haunted House." "Dead Man's Path" was written by a man named Chinua Achebe who was a devout christian. He was very talented and began learning English by the age of eight. While he was an undergraduate he ...show more content... Like many of us in life, we carry out similar actions. Where the gain may not be worth the sacrifice. He sacrificed closing the footpath, which in the end led to a young woman in the village dying in childbed. Every actions has a consequence. Whether it will be a good or a bad one (pg 12). This short story is one I would recommend to everyone period. It gets you to the point straight and forward. Making you reflect on some of your own actions throughout life. As my grandmother always told me "Measure twice, cut once." Ernest Hemingway's short story "A Clean, Well–Lighted Place" focuses on the significance of life. We are given three different characters, whom each have a very different view on it. Hemingway is a very famous American author, and this was one of his shortest short stories. I was impressed and satisfied with the message he left to his readers. Here we have an old man, a young waiter, and an older waiter. The story starts off with us finding out the old man tried to commit suicide. The two waiters went back and forth as to why. As the story progresses, we start to see the demeanor of the young waiter. Who is disengaged to the older man's situation. The older waiter gives insight as to why this old man is spending so much time in the cafe. All while trying to help guide the younger waiter to not be so self centered. I feel Theme is the best critical approach to discuss in this short story. The formula here is set with Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Two essays on analytical psychology Jung's Two Essays on Analytical Psychology includes the works The Unconscious in the Normal and Pathological Mind and The Relation of the Ego to the Unconscious, which are 1928 revisions of previously written papers. Jung, who was Freud's well–known disciple from 1909 to 1914, held ideas different from Freud's and Adler's that eventually led to personal differences between them, particularly with Freud; their followers have continued these differences. One of the point of disagreement is Jung's opinion that Freud's concept of the libido is too concerned with sexuality and that Adler's will to power is also too simplistic. Alternatively to Freud, he calls the libido the basic tank...show more content... The introverted personality type focuses on the subject while the extraversion type focuses on the object; however, these two types are rare observed in their unadulterated state. Moreover, the dynamics of a relationship between individuals who retain contradictory personality types was examined by Jung. Alternatively, to contrast with the concepts of Freud and Adler, they describe neuroses as sometimes allocating useful adaptive functions. The Unconscious in the Normal and Pathological Mind Jung considers and discusses the concept of the collective unconscious as well as its role in the process of transference within psychotherapy. He suggests that the traditional method of dream analysis which must be followed by a discussion when it is believed that the symbols presented originated in the collective unconscious. Shortly after, he left the hospital position, and broke away from Freud. He began to analyze his own dreams and fantasies in order to further confirm this hypothetical other layer of the unconscious. He began to focus on broader collective elements he called archetypes. Jung believed that archetypes had a regulatory function beyond the sexual drive. His primary treatment for his patients involved treatment of their unconscious. Jung believed that the archetypal images were the principal structural elements of the unconscious that was express in myths and other collective narratives. His major therapeutic technique was drawing parallels between the archetypal images and his patients' dreams and fantasies. Delving into psychology more in depth initiated speculations by Freud and Jung and left the specific synaptic and neural materialization of unconscious processes to be inferred. In an attempt to avoid the problem of dualistic thinking and of treating the mind as separate from the body without relying on known data, Jung's speculation about unconscious archetypes united drives and spirit, matter and psyche, reached for solutions tying human behavior to genetic predispositions. • 11. Analytical Research Paper If your family member was severely injured or even killed in a terrorist attack, would you want to find out by seeing them lay lifeless on the ground in a video posted on twitter? My primary source for the Analytical Research Paper is a tweet that I came upon on August seventeenth, the day of the appalling, yet not so surprising terrorist attack in Barcelona. I never imagined that I would find myself saying terrorist attacks no longer surprise me. However, they have become increasingly common in the past few years and I believe that no matter the amount of devastation they cause us, society as a whole is somewhat used to it. The tweet contains a video that was taken immediately following the tragedy that occurred nearby. A van was...show more content... They insisted that showing the victims' faces made it appear "more real" and that perhaps, "it'll make people aware of what's going on around the world." There were also responses to the tweet that explained why people believe these videos should not be posted at all. Their view on this topic is that the more attention we draw to terrorist attacks, the more we are falling into their trap and fearing them. Also, they explained that when the videos are posted, it makes it much easier for terrorists to copy. For example, in this case, getting in a car and driving it into a crowd of people seems extremely straightforward and easily accomplished. The more I read these types of comments, the more I agreed with this viewpoint. However, I think that we need to be more realistic. Referring back to what I said about social media taking over society nowadays makes not posting these videos practically impossible. I also thought about why they can't take the video down or at least edit it, but, the tweet that first shared the video, had thousands of retweets and reposts within an hour, making this virtually impossible as well. I've remembered the video almost perfectly ever since I watched it the day of the attack. It stuck in my mind so well because of the amount of fear that it caused me. Knowing that these innocent people, including tourists and children could've been my family, or even me, is absolutely terrifying. A car could run over any Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Gossip: An Analytical Research Paper Gossip Analytical Research Paper Introduction Gossip is recognized, in some circles as a method for spreading information between a group of people who have an intimate knowledge of one another. It is seen by linguistic anthropologists as a primary method for communication in some circles, and it has been a technique for many thousands of years. This is not a gender specific activity, although some may think it is, but it crosses many different demographics. This research paper is an attempt to convert a set of song lyrics ("Rolling in the Deep") to gossip, and then to explain what the experience of conversion means. Converting "Rolling in the Deep" to Gossip "So what's the deal with Sarah and Ryan?" "You know I don't tell tales on my sister!" "Come on. I heard something was going on. I heard that she packed up her things." "Okay. She said something about this, I don't know, "realization" she had about him. Something about seeing him crystal clear now." "What does that mean?" "I don't know but, I could hear some of the things she was yelling into the phone at him. She said something like "Yeah! You think you have something on me?! Well go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare!!"" "What the hell does that mean?" "Well she always told me they were soooooo in love, but yesterday she just seemed so angry she was breathless. I heard her tell one of her friends that she had some dirt on Ryan and that she was going to make his head burn and bring him down as Get more content on HelpWriting.net

However, abundant as this information may be, it is important to maintain an ethical outlook to all research topics. As research and its subsequent experimentations advance in light of new generations, the idea of ethics becomes a more prominent issue. Researchers must be aware of the conflicts that their research may bring about. They must know how to address their findings in a moral way appealing to the pro and cons. According to the National Institute of Health, stem cells are unique cells created from embryos for infertility purposes usually through the process of in vitro fertilization (Institute on Health). Stems cells have two important characteristics that differentiate them from other types of cells. One is that they are unspecialized cells that rejuvenate themselves through cell division. The other is that, under certain conditions, they can be induced to become certain specialized cells (Institute on Health). For certain people this is life saving news. Now that cells can be specialized under these unspecialized stem cells, a patient can receive new heart cells for a diseased heart or many other life threatening diseases (Institute on Health). This information can be used in a variety of useful ways, but is it morally right to create embryos only to destroy them? Are these potential humans that could help them world in some other way? This is the perspective of many people fighting against stem–cell research. These activists claim that stem–cell research plays against the will of God. Moreover, if stem cell research is legalized world–wide, who is to say that people will use it only to benefit the curing of disease? Is it possible that people will become careless and more susceptible to disease only to receive stem cells to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

A way to find out how to use these things towards you as an advantage is by talking to a professional or someone that has used them in the past like a psychologist or a doctor. This is clearly affecting the world that we live in today by a long shot more than any other symptom out there. Therefore we can clearly tell by the statistics that over 40million people in the U.S have the anxiety disorder, only one–third of the people are being treated yet it is highly treatable and the fact that it has used over $42 billion in the U.S. Therefore it can be concluded that the current position that the population of people with anxiety disorders and people that are being treated with and completely different numbers and requires and seeks global attention as it is a big issue. • 15. Young Goodman Brown Analytical Essay Young Goodman Brown, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is an eerie story filled with ambiguity. The storyline can be seen as linear. Young Goodman Brown, the protagonist, leaves his village to go on a journey into the woods then experiences this and that until he reaches the gathering of evil worshippers. While it sounds straightforward, Hawthorne uses a lot of rhetorical devices to make his story frightening and leaving the reader to ponder the goodness of humans. He uses techniques such as allegories, symbolism, and foreshadowing. Besides his writing style, however, religion plays an important role in the story. The use of religion starts the story and sets the theme of good versus evil. Puritanism greatly influences Hawthorne's tale. It can be inferred that Young Goodman Brown is a story where Hawthorne criticizes and indicts the Puritan society by adding Puritan values and beliefs to it. The Puritan society is an oppressive community. There is a law that requires every villagers to attend church every week, otherwise, there would be a fine to pay (Puritan Life). For example, the young may want to rid of their fathers in order to get their inheritance quicker. It may or may not be true, but the thought of evil–worshipping neighbors sticks with Brown throughout his life. While the people in his village appear kind and gentle, Brown is suspicious of their true character. • 16. Abortion Analytical Essay Abortions: Morally Acceptable or Not? The issue of abortion is one of the most sensitive and controversial issues faced by modern societies. This issue leads to topics of whether abortion is right or wrong, if it is the actual killing of a person, and what actually defines the moral status of a fetus. In this paper, I will be arguing against Bonnie Steinbock, who believes that abortions are morally acceptable. So I will be supporting the view that abortions are not morally acceptable. In Bonnie Steinbock's essay, "Why Abortions Are Not Wrong," she argues that abortions are morally acceptable because fetuses are non–sentient beings and therefore lack interests as well as moral status. Her first premise suggests that it is wrong to kill...show more content... Although, Steinbock's third premise suggests that some abortions are the killing of a non–sentient organism. By this she means, some abortions may be immoral for many reasons such as, trivial reasons, sex selection, fetal reduction, and vengeful abortion. The trivial reasons are of little worth and importance. Steinbock describes the story of a girl not wanting to be pregnant in the summer because she would be unable to wear a bikini. She concludes that this would be a very immoral reason for having an abortion. Sex selection refers to the "destruction of a healthy fetus just because of its sex to be immoral, either because of the sexist attitude or because such abortions reflect insufficient respect for potential human life." Fetal reduction is the practice of reducing the number of fetuses in a pregnancy with more than one fetus. Steinbock states that this is rather difficult and understands this practice. Vengeful abortions are the seeking to harm someone else beside the fetus. Steinbock describes it as, a woman who might have an abortion to seek revenge on her husband because he was unfaithful to her earlier in their marriage. Steinbock concludes that these reasons are all bizarre and can result in the killing of non–sentient beings. After reading Bonnie Steinbock's article, I will be arguing against her conclusion that some abortions Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The main character, Louise Mallard, also known as Mrs.Mallard, is finally set free from a miserable and sorrowful marriage and is able to grasp a hold of the freedom she was in search of during her times of misery. Mrs.Mallard had three major issues in this short story; 1.) She disliked her husband 2.) She struggled with heart/ health issues and 3.) She mentally had a damaged heart. "The Story of An Hour" also includes the following characters; Mr.Mallard who is of course Mrs.Mallard's husband, Josephine who is the sister of Mrs.Mallard and lastly Richards who is a friend of Mr.Mallard. Like everyone has already mentioned, there is no documented reason or motive behind why the tile transformed into a different title but both titles absolutely fits the description of the story. "The Dream Of An Hour" represents the confusing segment in the story when Mrs.Mallard became overly joyed with the claims that her husband was dead, just to find out he was actually alive in reality which perfectly fits the description of a "Dream". Dreams can provide you with whatever you plead for but dreams do not last forever, eventually you must return to reality and sometimes reality can leave you hurt or like in Mrs.Mallards case, overwhelmed which lead to death. The title that actually made it as the "Legit" title, comes off as "Here Are The Facts!". The word "Dream" was replaced with "Story". The replacement word "story" immediately captures the attention of potential readers because it comes off as more personal and that is most likely why the title was reformed, or better yet; Get more content on HelpWriting.net
