INDIANS GROUND JETS; RECORDS BROKEN!
MORAGO IN THE BOOKS, BERMEJO GETS THE HOOK!
MENDIBLES PROVES HE’S FASTER THAN ANY JET!
Offensive & Rio’s Pizza “Player of the Game” RB Isaac Mendibles proved he is faster than any
Jet on Saturday as he turned the end zone into his private landing strip. Mendibles took the open-
ing kickoff and went 70 yards untouched for an apparent touchdown, only to be nullified by a
penalty for a block in the back. That didn’t seem to slow him down one bit as he continued his
dominance throughout the game seemingly scoring at will and leading the Indians to a 42-0 vic-
tory.. Offensive Coordinator Cesar Bermejo was ejected from the game after the first offensive
play from scrimmage by an over zealous referee, earning him the dubious honor of being the first
coach to be ejected in the Indians’ “modern era.” His presence was welcome in the “announcers
booth,” while missed on the sideline. After an Indians’ fumble, the ball was picked up by a Jets’
defender who appeared to be off to the races for a touchdown, when OL Osberto Buenrostro ran
him down from 20 yards behind to conserve the shutout for the Indians…what an effort!!
BRAVES OPPORTUNISTIC, WIN 28-6!
For the first time in three weeks, Indians’ fans did not have to hold their collective breath in watch-
ing the Braves win their third straight game. Rio’s Pizza “Player of the Game” LB Jason Morago
scooped up a fumble and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown setting a record at Grant Rea Park
for the longest fumble return in Indians’ history (as we know it). Defensive “Player of the Game” S
-Seth Cloud had 10 tackles in the game and is a defensive standout who “defines the heart of this
team” says Head Coach Ramon “Monie” Soliz. Offensive “Player of the Game” RB Angel Ramirez
had two big runs in the game which helped stabilize the offense which is “still trying to find it’s
identity.” “This team has fun every week and has a sense of unity that’s only second to all the
teams I’ve coached in the past 25 years. I’m glad to be a part of it. Special team standout PK
Adrian Buenrostro; nicknamed “Bueno” (Boom, Boom, Boom, let me hear you say Bueno!) kicked
two (2) point conversions in his first two attempts ever” says coach Monie.
THE CASTRO CONNECTION GOES “GREEN”!
The connection of “Castro-To-Castro” is becoming something hard to ignore or contain. Offensive
and Rio’s Pizza “Player of the Game,” Nathan Castro threw for three touchdowns with the game
winning touchdown toss going to Ryan Castro (Indian related only). Isaac Mora pitched in with five
receptions and two touchdowns. Defensive “Player of the Game” once again was Jessie Preciado
pulling five flags and coming up with a goal line interception to prevent a Jets’ score. Diego Olivo
and Mike Ornelas had two pulled flags each with Ornelas pulling a flag at the 1 yard line to prevent
2. WARRIORS WABBLE, BUT DON’T FALL!
“Once again the Warriors found themselves in a tough battle. Penalties hurt us, an offside called on
the defense kept a Jets’ drive alive,” said Head Coach Steve Rivas. However, the defense eventually
responded and came up with a big stop. On the opening possession, they marched down the field
with a big a chunk of the drive coming from a 40 yard pass from QB Airrick Nava to Defensive and
Rio’s Pizza “Player of the Game” RB Mike Vital, taking it down to the Jets’ 10 yard line giving the
Indians a first and goal. Unfortunately, penalties and a fumble hurt the Warriors once again and they
did not score. On the ensuing offensive possession, the Warriors drove down the field and found
themselves struggling to score and on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line turned to #42 RB Steven
Castro who punched it in on a “power play.” “Defensively we played well, with the exception of 1
play where we misapplied and the Jets caught us giving them their only score,” says Coach Rivas.
Late in the 4th quarter, with the score in favor of the Warriors 12-7, the Jets were driving again and
found an open receiver deep. Vital made a great read on the play, came across the field and swatted
the ball away at the last possible second.
SCOUTS BREAK SOUND BARRIER & JETS, 27-0!
The Scouts’ defense pitched another shutout and the offense continued their dominance in winning
their third straight game. Much of the offense’s success is a direct product of the “Players of the
Game” the “Green” offensive line made up of; Isaac Cruz, Anthony Acosta, Steven Barraza,
Arianna “Ice Box” Araiza and Derrick Galvez. The defense is led by Alex Cortez, Steven Loera and
Anthony Cobian. QB Julious Santoscoy threw another touchdown pass in the game connecting with
Alex Cortez who did a great job. Rio’s Pizza “Player of the Game” FB Chris “Little Tank” Araiza
had a 5 yard touchdown run in his first action in the offensive backfield. “The Green line made
holes big enough to drive a truck (or a little tank) through and the Lightning offense continues to
improve and be a viable and productive option for our team;” says Head Coach Armando Valencia.
LOPEZ AND CARCAMO LEAD THE “BLACK”
The “Black” flag division team faced a formidable opponent in the El Monte Jets, but fought val-
iantly and defended their home field. Defensive and Rio’s Pizza “Player of the Game” Sergio Car-
camo made two interceptions during the game stopping El Monte drives and anchoring the Indians’
defense. Offensive “Player of the Game” Daniel Lopez provided the “ground and pound” game for
the Indians with relentless runs out of the backfield showing tremendous leadership. Manuel
Herrera provided support with a 20 yard reception as well.
