3. Who needs an HSG test
• Every woman who experiences infertility
should have her uterus and fallopian tubes
evaluated.

4. How is the HSG performed?
• The test is done by inserting a catheter (tube) into the uterus and
injecting a dye through the tube. An X-ray is taken to determine
whether the dye passes through the open ends of the fallopian
tubes. If the dye emerges from the end of the tubes, they are not
blocked. If HSG is being done under Fluoroscopy, you will be able to
watch on a TV screen as the dye fills the uterus and flows into the
fallopian tubes. An X-ray is taken to determine whether the dye
passes through the open ends of the fallopian tubes.
After the HSG Test, there may be a small amount of spotting and/or
menstrual-like cramping. After returning home, normal activities
may be resumed.
• The test may also reveal other fertility problems, such as fibroid
tumors, structural abnormalities and endometrial polyps. In some
cases, the dye actually clears away blockages in the fallopian tubes,
and restores the woman's fertility.

5. What is IVF?
• IVF stands for in vitro fertilization. IVF refers to the process
of achieving fertilization between the sperm and ovum in
the laboratory under artificial conditions, and placement of
the dividing zygote into the uterus of the mother.
• In vitro literally means 'in glass' and with this form of
assisted conception, fertilization takes place in a glass (or
more commonly, plastic) dish in the laboratory. (At one
early stage, scientists used test tubes for fertilization, hence
the term "test tube baby".) IVF was originally devised to
overcome infertility caused by blocked or absent fallopian
tubes. Today, IVF is used to treat many more reproductive
problems, including irregular ovulation, low sperm count or
motility, and unexplained infertility.

6. What is Mini-IVF/ Soft IVF
• The Mini-IVF treatment is a holistic in vitro
fertilization treatment, but it differs from
Natural Cycle IVF in its use of a minimal
amount of oral medication to stimulate the
ovaries to produce the maximum amount of
"quality" eggs your body can produce in one
cycle.
