2. In the beginning of The opening scene/credits it shows a low angle shot facing up
towards bond pulling away from the light above him looking helpless which is a
countertype for bond himself. This create a big question immediately for the audience
of ‘is he dead?’ and engages the audience a considerable amount as its as if they have
to find out. On the other hand you could portray bond as undefeatable, and this
image can confuse the audience. As he falls the camera pans out to a long angle shot
with a hand pulling him further into the water which shows how vulnerable he is. The
lighting varies from low key to high key which shows the intensity of his situations and
how controversial it is.
3. The music is presented as harsh and dramatic to build tension for the
audience as the opening sequence is a chase. This therefore fits in well as its
quick and fast pace to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Furthermore throughout the opening scene the music that’s created is called
Skyfall which links with the title of the film and is evidently shown when bond
falls from the train as if he's falling from the sky. This creates a dilemma for
the audience as they begin to figure out what's to happen next.
4. This long shot of him on the buildings creates a strong relation to danger
and the disjointed buildings that bond’s traveling through suggest to the
audience how difficult it is, although still knowing that bond will survive
especially because it’s the beginning of the film, which relaxes the
audience slightly . The background is slightly gloomy this is used so we are
unsure of what is to come. You can see bonds pray from afar in the
background which is fairly blurry to create the main focus on bond and to
show how far away the other man is which is quite thrilling.
5. The cross-cut to the office and back throughout the scene suggests the fast pace bond
is travelling it at physically and mentally, as he is having to focus on chasing and
listening in for direction. It also suggests everything that’s going through his mind as
various technical words are used which will confuse the audition although highlights
bonds intelligence and make them feel at ease as if nothing bad will be happen to
him.
6. This mid shot portrays action and as bond at the highest status. The blurred
background shows the speed their going at and draws the main focused
onto the character. As it’s the opening scene it determines the speed for
the rest of the film and keep audience thrilled and excited, which a lot of
thrillers have in common. The way the guns pointing is more towards bond
which can create an eerie atmosphere when watching as the questions that
will be asked is ‘is bond going to die?’ the point of the gun may also portray
danger as gun represent death. The handheld camera is used which puts
the audience in the gunpersons perspective and makes them visualise them
being there.
