2. “Do you like to read a lot of text on a double
page spread or do you prefer or images?”
Images
60%
Text
13%
Even
27%
Images Text Even
I asked this question as I wanted to know the
overall preference from my target audience on
their opinion on a double page spread. However I
was expecting a more even reaction and was not
expecting 60% to want a majority of images.
This has influenced my planning as this has now
informed me that I need a variety of images on
my double page spread, and need to put the
images a slightly higher priority than the text on
my double page spread.
3. “Do you prefer a busy looking contents page
or more simplistic?”
Simplistic

Simplistic Busy Middle
I asked this question and the following question
because I particularly wanted to know if my
audience wanted synergy between the contents and
the front cover, and this question as well as the
following one would help me to know that.
Simplistic had majority of 67% and therefore, this
has shown me that although I am in favour of a busy
looking contents page such as Qs magazines, which I
was going to use as my creativity inspiration, that it
would not be a good idea as the overall ruling is
more simplistic.
4. “Do you prefer a busy looking front cover or
more simplistic?”
Simplistic
53%
Busy
40%
Middle
7%
Simplistic Busy Middle
This result has shown my audience overall do want
a synergy between my fornt cover and contents
page as yet again, simplistic is shown to have the
highest majority of 53%.
However the simplistic although scoring the
majority, did not score as high as the contents page
simplistic did which was 67%.
This has influenced my planning as now these
results show me that I am more able to get allow a
slightly more busy front cover than a contents page,
although overall keeping it simplistic.
5. “Do you use social media to follow artists?”
Yes
93%
No
7%
Yes No
I wanted to know the answer to this question as I
would mention the artists social media account on the
double page spread if the results shows that the target
audience follow artists.
The results are astonishing, with the answer being yes
at 93%. Therefore this has influenced my planning as I
will definitely be using and mentioning the made uo
artists account.
I found out further that 20% of those who I asked and
stated yes that they follow artists on Instagram only
and not twitter.
6. “Do you go to concerts and gigs?”
Yes
67%
No
33%
Yes No
The answer to this question would help inform me on
whether I should advertise a concert in my magazine or
not.
The results showed me that 2/3 of the target audience
do go to them, which shocked me as I was expecting a
higher result of those who attended them.
This has influenced my planning as I now know that I
should not advertise the concert in as big as a way I
would have initially and shall only create a small
advertisement on the contents page.
7. “Which types of adverts do you enjoy/find

Informative and linking into genre Bright with celebrity Unsure None Clothing Food
This question did not provide me with as clear
answers and a guide as I would have liked and I
think this is due to the target audience not
usually getting asked questions like this.
This has influenced my creativity as I will now try
and make an advert that appeal to them all, by
using a bright celebrity that links into the Indian
culture and cuisine and also has links down the
side of the advert on where to purchase the
outfit they are wearing.
8. “Do competitions in magazine appeal to
you?”
Yes
80%
No
20%
Yes No
The answers to the question I found humorous as those who
responded “yes” tended to add an extra comment on how
eager they are for competition.
I think this is due to my target audience age range being a
very competitive segment of the public. So therefore I will
definitely add a competition in the magazine, and link it into
my genre. Perhaps the readers will have a chance to learn
bhangra dancing lessons if they win the competition.
9. “Would you like a gossip column”
Yes
87%
No
13%
Yes No
Due to these answers I will feature a small gossip
column, and I was actually surprised as I was expecting a
50/50 result.
This influences my creativity as I will make it a more
noticeable feature than initially planned. The gossip will
be about made up artists but will be inspired by real lie
situation from famous artists.
10. “Do you download music from iTunes?”
Yes
73%
No
27%
Yes No
I asked this question so it could inform me on whether to
advertise the artists new up and coming song or album to be
downloaded on iTunes.
I was expecting the results to be higher as I assumed the target
audience age group would all download music from iTunes,
however I think the results were lower as my question was not
worded well and some of the audience used other methods
such as YouTube and Spotify.
This has influenced my planning as I will give a variety of forms
for the read to be able to access the music of the artist.
11. “For the front cover would you prefer a studio
shot of a natural shot?”
Natural
60%
Studio
33%
Either
7%
Natural Studio Either
The overall result is natural shot at 60%, so
therefore I will be using a natural shot for my front
cover.
Due to this result, my creativity has been
influenced as I also now want natural scenery and
I am planning on going to a park with the leaves
on the trees falling beneath and around the
model.
12. “Do you appreciate crops on the front cover?”
Yes
87%
No
6%
Sometimes
7%
Yes No Sometimes
I wanted to know the answers to this question, because
as my genre links into many crops, such as Indian
jewellery and instruments.
I was pleased with these results as they have influenced
my creativity and have reinforced my ideas of featuring
props on my front cover and create signs to signifier and
connote the culture.
13. “Would you prefer a male or female on a
front cover of an Indian music magazine?”
Female
60%
Male

40%
Female Male Either
Previously to the target audience research, I was
extremely uncertain on what model I would like on my
magazine front cover.
However due to no one specifically choosing a male
model, this has showed me this is not a preference to my
target audience.
This has influenced my creativity and planning as since
then I have organised to have a female model for my
front cover.
14. “Are you interested in the Indian culture and
traditions?”
Yes
93%
No
7%
Yes No
This question has influenced me and reassured me
on my initial idea on creating my double page
spread with an overall theme of an Indian festival
such as Diwali or Vaisakhi and help educate and
inform the audience who are not from that culture
on those festivals.
Therefore I think the magazine will be further
appealing to all cultures. However I do wish I had
asked a more specific question concerning Indian
cultures and traditions for my target audience to
respond to as this is slightly vague.
15. “What colours do you associate with
Bhangra?”
Colourful Variety
13%
Red and Gold
27%
Orange and Pink
60%
Colourful Variety Red and Gold Orange and Pink
The results varied and come responses were more
detailed than others. I noticed that the more vague
responses tended to be male.
I did find the results unusual as I wasn’t expecting such
commonly occurring pairs, such as red and gold, and
pink and orange.
However this did strongly influence my creativity as it
assured me that people link these colours together
well and the contrast is clearly memorable.
16. “Do you want the Indian Magazine to link to
Bollywood?”
Yes
93%
No
7%
Yes No
I wanted to know the answers to this question as my initial
idea was to have a top 10 Bollywood songs and a top 10
bhangra songs.
This has proven to me that including a top 10 of Bollywood
songs and the latest films in which they feature in will be
very appealing to the audience.
This would also link to my gossip column as the actors in
the Bollywood section could be featured in the gossip
column.
17. “What is your opinion on the magazine name
‘Bhangra Beats’?”
Yes
100%
Yes
I was extremely pleased with the results to this
question as it was proven to be 100% appealing to
the target audience and successfully.
I also received the comment “catchy but not cheesy”
on 20% of the answers which is extremely satisfying
to me as it was one of my worries that it would be
shown as cheesy.
