 Women entrepreneurs are making a significant impact
in all segments of the society. Apart from the facet
assumption that women are frail and indecisive,
women entrepreneurs encounter many problems in
their efforts to develop their enterprise.
 This article discusses the major problems and issues
facing by women entrepreneurs in India and what
measure can be taken from various levels to increase
the presence of their proposition in the society.

 The emergence of women entrepreneurs and their
contribution to the national economy is quite
visible in India.
But
 They are still just 10% of the total entrepreneurs in
India.

potential, the fact remains that they are capable of
contributing much more than what they already are.
In order to harness their potential and for their
continued growth and development, it is necessary to
formulate appropriate strategies for stimulating,
supporting and sustaining their efforts in this
direction. Such a strategy needs to be in congruence
with field realities, and should especially take
cognizance of the problems women entrepreneurs face
within the current system.

policies supporting women in using their
entrepreneurial potential.
 To raise awareness -among regional decision-makers
concerning the importance of promoting women’s
entrepreneurship.

Measures to be taken for the Promotion of
women Entrepreneurship
 It is a means to alleviate women’s unemployment and
poverty and also stimulate economic growth.
 Women’s entrepreneurship promotion aims at
eliminating gender specific barriers which limits
women’s capacity to build up businesses. These
include inadequate access to information, business
networks as well as the traditional attitude towards the
gender role.

of industrialization and economic growth.

largely depends on the supporting conditions of
different factors such as economic, social, cultural, and
psychological.

Various studies confirm that the
 widespread illiteracy,
 lack of basic education, training and experience
remain serious obstacles in women’s
entrepreneurship development apart from access to
finance and socio cultural environment.
