Goals for this Program
1. Understand why inquiry learning processes that
build competencies and habits of mind prepare
learners for full participation in a global
knowledge society
2. Gain knowledge about the relationship between
digital literacy and inquiry pedagogies
3. Learn how educators scaffold digital inquiry
practices with sensitivity to the developmental
needs of learners to activate intellectual curiosity
in ways that promote meaningful learning
4. Experiment with digital tools for creating media
as a way to represent learning
5. Consider practical ways to apply digital inquiry
into classroom practice across all grade levels and
subject areas
5. Are media formats & digital technologies
reproducing, transforming or challenging the educational status quo?
24. Project Information Literacy
Students actively try to reduce the number of
choices they have to make in order to get
their assignments done.
The Citation Project
First-year college students who use sources
in their writing rarely write about them with
much understanding.
They don’t summarize sources, they harvest
quotes. Nearly half the time, the quotes they
use are from the first page of the source.
We
39. A majority of students ages 14 - 23 prefer learning from
YouTube videos over other activities including in-person
group activities, learning apps, games, or reading from
printed books.

63. Turn & Talk
How could you engage
students in:
• creating a wider range
of genres
• making connections
between school and
