Preparation of Food Items in IRCS – TNB Canteen for
the Flood Affected Victims
6. Due to heavy floods in Chennai city, people are not able to cook and to
have food.
IRCS-TNB providing food to the people in the following flood affected
areas. (From 30.11.2015 to 08.12.2015)
1. Rajarathinam Stadium – 250 Persons
2. Church Park School - 400 Persons
3. Govt. School ,Greams Road -150 Persons
4. Community Hall – Greams Road – 200 Persons
5. Govt. School – Pudupet - 150 Persons
6. Commissioner of Police Office, Egmore - 200 Persons
7. Burkit Road – T.Nagar - 500 Persons
8. Thanikasalam Street, T.Nagar – 300 Persons
9. C.I.T Colony , Nandanam – 1000 Persons
10. West Boag Road -500 Persons
11. West Mambalam – 500 Persons
12. Saidapet - 500 Persons
13. Nesapakkam - 1000 Persons

12. Medical Camps Conducted in Flood affected areas
with the support of Indian Oil Corporation.
IRCS-TNB conducted for Medical Camp in the places for the benefit
of flood affected victims. Medicines were also given free of cost to
the patients during the camp. Three Teams of Medical Professionals
were rendered their services in the medical camps for the benefit of
flood affected victims for five days from 07.12.2015 to 11.12.2015.
Totally 5065 patients were benefited through above Mobile Medical
Camps.

and Water borne diseases
IRCS-TNB prepared and printed pamphlets on awareness
creation about Prevention of Dengue, Malaria and Water
borne Diseases. 32district Red Cross Branches were issued
3000 pamphlets to each District with a request & Distribute
the Pamphlets to the public in their respective Districts.

17. Distribution of Relief Materials to the Flood Affected People
IRCS TNB distributed Relief Materials to the flood affected victims since
07.12.2015 to 12.12.2015, 6,500 persons from various flood affected
places in Chennai district were distributed Relief Materials at IRCS –
TNB premises and also sent flood Relief Materials to the following
Districts.
• IRCS Cuddalore District Branch – 800 Sets
• IRCS Virudhachalm Sub Branch – 100 Sets
• IRCS Chidambaram Sub Branch – 100 Sets
• Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board – 150 Sets
• Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Board – 300 Sets
• IRCS Sirkali Sub Branch – 75 Sets
• IRCS Tiruvallur District Branch – 175 Sets
• IRCS Thanjavur District Branch – 75 Sets
• Kancheepiuram -100 sets
24. NRI in Dubai Supported 5Metric Tonnes of
Relief aid to IRCS-TNB.
• Dubai based Indian Community Welfare Committee donated 5Metric Tonnes of
Relief Aid to IRCS – TNB for the benefit of flood affected victims.
• Thiru K. Kumar, President of ICWC, Dubai(UAE) & Dr. Jayanthimala Suresh,
President at Dubai Tamil Sangam took efforts for mobilising the above aid, and
handed over to Dr. Harish L Metha, Chairman IRCS TNB at Red Cross premises in a
Press Conference.
• Kalaipuli S. Thanu, President of the Tamil Film Producers Council, Padmashree
“Chinna Kalaivanar” Thiru Vivek and Rev. Father Dr. J.Jaya Singh, UN Ambassador
for World Peace participated in the Press Conference and kick started distribution
of relief materials to the needy.

• Over 400 fear to lost lives due to Rain related incidents
• Over 10 Lakh people evacuated & accommodâted in
Temporary Relief Centre
• Over 12 lakhs household affected
• Estimated loss to property and dwell_ments and crops is
Rs.8,481 crores now estimated as doubled
• More than 30 days Educational Institutions were closed in
Chennai, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore and Tiruvallur Districts
• Chennai was officially declared a DISASTER AREA on the
evening of 2 December.
• Chennai Corporation officials reported at least 57,000 homes
in the city had suffered structural damage
29. • With a letup in rainfall, floodwaters gradually began to
recede in Chennai on 4 December, though 40 percent of
the city's districts remained submerged
• Safe food and drinking water remained in short supply.
• Chennai Domestic & International Airport was closed till
6th December 2015

• Supplies of basic necessities like milk, water and vegetables were
affected
• Milk packets sold for INR100 (US$1.50), five times more than their
actual cost.
• Water bottles and cans were sold at prices between INR
100 (US$1.50) to INR 150 (US$2.20).
• Vegetables were sold over and above at-least INR 10 (15¢ US) to INR
20 (30¢ US) their normal average cost.
• Fuel supplies were greatly affected in Chennai.
