In "Get This Story Out of My Head: Five Tips for Putting Your Story on Paper," I present 5 tips/strategies for getting a story out of your head and onto the page. Writing is a process, but first, you must get your mind ready for the journey.
3.
Tip #1 Acceptance
You’ve been chosen to tell
the story. Not a fluke!
The seed has been planted
in you.
Acknowledge & accept.
Say, “Thank you.”
Embrace it!
If you don’t tell it, the
Divine will give it to
someone else to tell.
4.
Tip #2 Don’t Panic!
You don’t have to have
gone to school and majored
in English to be a
storyteller/writer.
Writing is a practiced skill.
Don’t talk yourself out of
trying to tell the story.
You have a RIGHT to tell
this story!
Breathe, breathe, breathe!!
Settle into the story idea.
5.
Tip #3 Release
Let whatever is in your
head come out in
whatever form it takes
(i.e., bits & pieces).
The story does not have
to come to you intact.
Write down what you see,
hear, smell, feel, & taste.
Write it all down in a
journal or record it on
your phone, tape recorder
or computer.
6.
Tip #4 Commit
Find a safe, secure, quiet &
private space – go into your
closet. Commit to your gift.
Ask the Divine for the rest
of the story/direction.
Walking or meditating is a
great way to connect to
creativity and/or the
Divine. You are releasing
the distraction/drama of
the day.
“Be still and know…” –
silence is golden.

Tip #5 Get Support
