 If you are in conflict within yourself, you cannot develop or be
sustain in any relationship, which turns into be a contacts
 Unless until you have no contacts, you will not get any help, will start
cribbing, will not grow, will feel isolated and depressed. You cannot
project a positive image.
How to know whether you are in
conflict with yourself
 If you mind is always wandering
 Too much of thought process
 Always talking about things which has no context or benefits to the
self
 Engaging in activity which is unproductive
 Lower Self Esteem
 Engaging in activities which mind does not want
 Lack of motivation, goal or objectivity
 Feeling of being stuck in a place or situation
 Unable to make decisions or afraid of making decisions
How to resolve the conflict
 First take a resolution to resolve conflict within the self and with others
 Move away or detach from too much of emotions
 Taking responsibility for our own action instead of blaming others
 Talk positive about others even in their absense
 Look at yourself as an outsider, if required just laugh at you for being like
that.
 Understand the result is only a feedback.
 Organize yourself by writing the tasks/goal you want to achieve in your
career / life in a place visible to you
 Write down the tasks and the schedule for each day and follow it holistically
 We will play games on conflict resolution & your personality traits
Conflict Resolutions –
Games/Activities
 Activity 1=
 You have a project which is delayed due to some reasons. You have about 10 days to
deliver the project, which normally takes 30 days. The project is already ran out of
budget and the organization refused to increase the resources. Adding to that, for
one of the technology used in the project, for which resource is very rare to find and
the resource is absconding for some time.
 You are unable to find the alternative resource and there is not enough time to train
the other resource. Somehow with struggle, you found a ok resource from some other
unit in Dubai, who has some knowledge in that technology. You have not met the
resource or does not have spoken to him at all and does not have any idea of the
resource. You came to know from one of your subordinate who knows him, that he
has been searching for a job for sometime and may resign any time soon. Now, to
please the customer and ease the pressure, you decided to send him to onsite (USA)
so he can act as coordinator and will help you resolve problem. Management have
informed the customer about the resource visiting to the customer.
 There are so many escalations up & down, front & Back. The customer who is of high
repute threating to wind up the project. If not, he may even inform the media, since
the project is very critical for him and for his shareholders. Loosing the project may
cost the reputation of company and the impact will be sever.

 Now you as team to elect your CEO, PD,PM, SQA, Tester,
developers, architect, PMO and his team (a person to keep the log
of all the activities happening in the process).

 Adding to all the problems, you find that, the resource has not reached
 The client says you are lying to him to please him and decide to
take it to the senior most management.
 Senior most management decides not to trust you. They want to
track the project themselves. So they decide to have live video call
with you and with your team on regular intervals (every 1 hour,
eventually reduced to 30 minutes with you and 45 minutes with
entire team including your ceo (who is on vacation now- who has
asked you to handle the project. If project fails he will sack the
entire team)).

 Due to the pressure from top most management from client place, the ceo
has assigned a group of delegates from top management to help you.
 To understand the project and situation better, they want to review the
project thoroughly which will take 2 days of time. Moreover, the team
assigned by the CEO does not understand any of the technical aspects, its
complexity to learn quickly and rarity of the skills in the project. They will be in
touch with you on regular basis or whenever they get escalations from the
client.
 Now as a team, it is your responsibility to deliver the project on time,
successfully.

 Suddenly you come to know there are two holidays. One is hindu festival which
some of frustrated resources want to attend. One is a muslim festival which one
of your Muslim resource says he will not come.
 During the build, you you find some of the code is missing and there is no back
up available for it.
 Now build is on progress and the optical fiber cable which is necessary link
between your server, your client and your machine is down. You check with your
IT and they say they will not know when it will be up and it is down across India.
 Your client refuse to accept it and call it as an excuse.
 The senior delegates refuse to help you since they want to be safe. They say the
problem in the project should have been escalated to them in a month in
advance.

 Prisoner’s Dilemma in Corporate environment
 Each team has different choice.
 Fully cooperate with other three teams and share the bonus money but don’t get
promoted and have to share all the credits
 Mess up the entire delivery so no one takes any money
 Mess up other teams but deliver it by themselves so the individual team takes all
the money, get promoted and take all the credit
 The team does not need to reveal their decision to other teams during the game.
Activities to Achieve your goals
 Write down your goals with the deadline to achieve those goals
 Every night before going to the bed, run a movie of you achieving
your goals.
 See your self in different situations and context how you feel
achieving those goals.
 After waking up in the morning, think about what is needed to
achieve your goals, like what behavioural / environmental changes
you need to do.
 Think about what is pulling you back and find out how to clear the
blocks.
 Once you find the blocks, work on removing those blocks.

  • 17. Conflict Resolutions – Games/Activities  Activity 1=  You have a project which is delayed due to some reasons. You have about 10 days to deliver the project, which normally takes 30 days. The project is already ran out of budget and the organization refused to increase the resources. Adding to that, for one of the technology used in the project, for which resource is very rare to find and the resource is absconding for some time.  You are unable to find the alternative resource and there is not enough time to train the other resource. Somehow with struggle, you found a ok resource from some other unit in Dubai, who has some knowledge in that technology. You have not met the resource or does not have spoken to him at all and does not have any idea of the resource. You came to know from one of your subordinate who knows him, that he has been searching for a job for sometime and may resign any time soon. Now, to please the customer and ease the pressure, you decided to send him to onsite (USA) so he can act as coordinator and will help you resolve problem. Management have informed the customer about the resource visiting to the customer.  There are so many escalations up & down, front & Back. The customer who is of high repute threating to wind up the project. If not, he may even inform the media, since the project is very critical for him and for his shareholders. Loosing the project may cost the reputation of company and the impact will be sever.

Moreover, the team assigned by the CEO does not understand any of the technical aspects, its complexity to learn quickly and rarity of the skills in the project. They will be in touch with you on regular basis or whenever they get escalations from the client.  Now as a team, it is your responsibility to deliver the project on time, successfully.

You check with your IT and they say they will not know when it will be up and it is down across India.  Your client refuse to accept it and call it as an excuse.  The senior delegates refuse to help you since they want to be safe. They say the problem in the project should have been escalated to them in a month in advance.

Activities to Achieve your goals  Write down your goals with the deadline to achieve those goals  Every night before going to the bed, run a movie of you achieving your goals.  See your self in different situations and context how you feel achieving those goals.  After waking up in the morning, think about what is needed to achieve your goals, like what behavioural / environmental changes you need to do.  Think about what is pulling you back and find out how to clear the blocks.  Once you find the blocks, work on removing those blocks.
