It is believed that Rugby was created in 1823 when, in
the town of Rugby (at Rugby School), a boy named
William Webb Ellis caught, and ran with the ball during
a game of football.

•80-minute match (two 40-minute halves)
•Grass pitch with an H-shaped goal post at each end.
•Two sides of 15 players try to out-score each other.
•Players can kick, run with or throw the ball.
•Tackle to gain possession.
