This webquest will help students to learn more about the history of Britain, it's
language and English words.
Many people know that English pronunciation is difficult. Moreover many words
are not pronounced in the way they are written. Why is it so?
This webquest will guide you through the most important moments in Brittish
history.
Today you'll be researching online about the Celts and the Romans.
Working in groups, follow the instructions on the process page and answer the questions on the
handout by following the links to the appropriate websites.

During your research work,don't forget to look through the online material on the process page
and answer the questions in the test.
Your next step will be summarising the most interesting facts to make a project.

The Anglo-Saxons and the Romans gave the days of the week the names of their

Project “From the Iron Age to the Victorian Age”

The students will have a week to get ready with their projects-presentations and it will take a week to listen to them. (Taking into account that the
material for the presentation is quite expanded and the number of students in the group is big, the students may present their projects in groups of
three or two and distribute some periods from the history of Britain among themselves.)

This is our first step in the research of the history of the English language.You've
learned the Celtic and Roman origin of some English words.I hope the process
