Why is it important ?
"Employee engagement is the emotional commitment
the employee has to the organization and its goals."
 Critical to organizational success
 By putting your people first, your people will put the
customer first
 fun in the workplace can significantly improve
productivity and performance
 directly results in high retention & high performance.
Basic requirements
 Clarity of goals between
management and employees
 Knowing about opportunities
to develop and progress
 Ongoing feedback and
coaching on the performance
of employees
 Opportunities to do their best
For Newcomers
 Must get short induction and orientation
 Ask them to keep a record of work they do
everyday
 Give them a buddy or mentor
 Encourage them to get familiarized with their
team
 Encourage staff to interact more with the
newcomers
For Managers
1. Develop a positive staff culture
2. Boost morale and motivation
3. Build relationships - employee/employee,
management/employee and Customer/employee
4. Improve teamwork
5. Enhance employee satisfaction and loyalty
6. Help attract and retain the best people
7. Improve customer satisfaction
8. Enhance creativity and problem solving
9. Resolve conflict and difficult issues
10. And therefore increase productivity and performance
For Employees

Regular Activities
1. Sending mails to the employees on their birthday
and anniversary
-Display their names on the notice board
- Leave them early from work
2. Sticking various motivational quotes and notes on
walls (ex: Manage your time wisely so that there
is a lot of time for learning and fun)
3. Celebrate the days like completion of 100th day (for
newcomers), completion of 1 year and so on.
Ask the employees to summarize their journey in
the organization
Regular Activities
4. Encourage employees to take up personal projects (ex:
by asking them to make ads for the brand they fascinate
the most, for places which they like, etc)
- Give half or one for window to employees to do this
- Preferably choose the slack hours ( between 2 to 4)
5. Always support employees to do work related courses
and support them financially if possible
6. Encourage the employees to participate in various
competitions related to their work (Ad making
competition)
Regular Activities
7. Stick team photos during events on walls
- Employees can also create their collages and ask
management to print and stick it in the area they
wish
8. Encourage volunteering of employees
- Give them leaves when they wish to support any
noble cause
9. Celebrate personal achievements in organization

10. Teaching a work related trick to everyone
- Tips related to MS Office
- Tips related to Ad making
11. Ask the employees what they need in their day to
day life on their desk
- Provide the necessary items and equip them fully
12. While setting targets, clarify the objectives and
action steps

13. Organize work night party
- Ideal time: During Summers
14. Encourage employees to improve the things at the
workplace on their own
- Ask them to form a Kaizen out of it
Approach: a) Do/ Improve something
b) Mention it in the Kaizen format
c) Mail it to decided email ID
( Create a new ID like wecanimprove@xyz.com)
Communication
 Form a Whatsapp group-
1. One common group including everyone
2. Team group with team members and leader
- Announcements and instructions related to all can
be given in the common group
- Team groups can include team specific instructions
- Leader should clearly mention what is expected and
what steps are to be taken
- Employees should regularly inform about their
progress and task completion on Team Group
Organization Games
Game 1: Perfection Master ( Single player)
- Include routine tasks of the employee
- Make some mistakes in it
- Ask the employee to identify, note down and rectify
the mistakes; give points for it
- Can be played in multiple rounds
- The one who gets maximum points wins the game
Organization Games
Game 2: Name the staff member ( Single Player )
- Ideal for newcomers
- Give three clues: a) Recent news about the person
b) Specialty of the person
c) Work area/ Department

Game 3: In-House treasure hunt ( Team game)
- Give multiple clues
- In the last clue, hide some small goodies (ex:
Chocolate box, You are going home 2 hours early
tomorrow note, etc)
- Keep encouraging notes at all clues

Game 4: Trivial Pursuit ( Team game)
- Divide employees in the teams of 5-8
- Decide some topics (ex: Working hours, Hygiene,
Entertainment, etc)
- Ask them to discuss amongst themselves and come
up with atleast 5 suggestions
- Ask them to write the suggestions on a piece of paper

Game 5: Skit making (Team game)
- Divide the employees into team of 3 to 5
- Supply them with random objects
- Give them 10 minutes to think and prepare a skit
- You can also ask them to make an Ad using those
things
- Ask them where their Ad can be a perfect fit
Organization Game
Game 6: Ball game ( Single Player)
- Sit a circle
- Take a big plastic ball and write funny and work
related questions on it; put a tape on them so that
the question is not visible
- Pass the ball from one person to other while the
music is on
- When the music stops, ask the person holding the
ball to open any one and answer that question
Acknowledgement
 Create a Facebook page, Twitter handle, etc
 Update the activities in the organization there
 Mention all those employees who get rewarded /
promoted/ win the games/ learn something new on
these platforms
 For safety purpose, create a closed group on
Facebook
Feedback System
 Create a special email ID for feedbacks
(ex: wecanimprove@xyz.com)
 Ask employees to mail honest feedback
 Set guidelines regarding the content of mails
 Mails will go to HR
 Useful to understand the needs of employees and
areas of improvement

Employee Engagement for a small sized company

  • 2. Why is it important ? "Employee engagement is the emotional commitment the employee has to the organization and its goals."  Critical to organizational success  By putting your people first, your people will put the customer first  fun in the workplace can significantly improve productivity and performance  directly results in high retention & high performance.
  • 3. Basic requirements  Clarity of goals between management and employees  Knowing about opportunities to develop and progress  Ongoing feedback and coaching on the performance of employees  Opportunities to do their best
  • 4. For Newcomers  Must get short induction and orientation  Ask them to keep a record of work they do everyday  Give them a buddy or mentor  Encourage them to get familiarized with their team  Encourage staff to interact more with the newcomers
  • 5. For Managers 1. Develop a positive staff culture 2. Boost morale and motivation 3. Build relationships - employee/employee, management/employee and Customer/employee 4. Improve teamwork 5. Enhance employee satisfaction and loyalty 6. Help attract and retain the best people 7. Improve customer satisfaction 8. Enhance creativity and problem solving 9. Resolve conflict and difficult issues 10. And therefore increase productivity and performance
  • 6. For Employees 1. To feel good 2. To be optimistic 3. Reduce stress 4. Ease boredom 5. Help the company cope with problems 6. Build relationships 7. Break down barriers 8. Lighten up serious or tense situations 9. To develop creativity and problem solving

  • 8. Regular Activities 1. Sending mails to the employees on their birthday and anniversary -Display their names on the notice board - Leave them early from work 2. Sticking various motivational quotes and notes on walls (ex: Manage your time wisely so that there is a lot of time for learning and fun) 3. Celebrate the days like completion of 100th day (for newcomers), completion of 1 year and so on. Ask the employees to summarize their journey in the organization
  • 9. Regular Activities 4. Encourage employees to take up personal projects (ex: by asking them to make ads for the brand they fascinate the most, for places which they like, etc) - Give half or one for window to employees to do this - Preferably choose the slack hours ( between 2 to 4) 5. Always support employees to do work related courses and support them financially if possible 6. Encourage the employees to participate in various competitions related to their work (Ad making competition)
  • 10. Regular Activities 7. Stick team photos during events on walls - Employees can also create their collages and ask management to print and stick it in the area they wish 8. Encourage volunteering of employees - Give them leaves when they wish to support any noble cause 9. Celebrate personal achievements in organization

Ask the employees what they need in their day to day life on their desk - Provide the necessary items and equip them fully 12. While setting targets, clarify the objectives and action steps

Encourage employees to improve the things at the workplace on their own - Ask them to form a Kaizen out of it Approach: a) Do/ Improve something b) Mention it in the Kaizen format c) Mail it to decided email ID ( Create a new ID like wecanimprove@xyz.com)
  • 13. Communication  Form a Whatsapp group- 1. One common group including everyone 2. Team group with team members and leader - Announcements and instructions related to all can be given in the common group - Team groups can include team specific instructions - Leader should clearly mention what is expected and what steps are to be taken - Employees should regularly inform about their progress and task completion on Team Group

Organization Games Game 1: Perfection Master ( Single player) - Include routine tasks of the employee - Make some mistakes in it - Ask the employee to identify, note down and rectify the mistakes; give points for it - Can be played in multiple rounds - The one who gets maximum points wins the game
  • 15. Organization Games Game 2: Name the staff member ( Single Player ) - Ideal for newcomers - Give three clues: a) Recent news about the person b) Specialty of the person c) Work area/ Department
  • 16. Organization Games Game 3: In-House treasure hunt ( Team game) - Give multiple clues - In the last clue, hide some small goodies (ex: Chocolate box, You are going home 2 hours early tomorrow note, etc) - Keep encouraging notes at all clues

Organization games Game 4: Trivial Pursuit ( Team game) - Divide employees in the teams of 5-8 - Decide some topics (ex: Working hours, Hygiene, Entertainment, etc) - Ask them to discuss amongst themselves and come up with atleast 5 suggestions - Ask them to write the suggestions on a piece of paper
  • 18. Organization Games Game 5: Skit making (Team game) - Divide the employees into team of 3 to 5 - Supply them with random objects - Give them 10 minutes to think and prepare a skit - You can also ask them to make an Ad using those things - Ask them where their Ad can be a perfect fit
  • 19. Organization Game Game 6: Ball game ( Single Player) - Sit a circle - Take a big plastic ball and write funny and work related questions on it; put a tape on them so that the question is not visible - Pass the ball from one person to other while the music is on - When the music stops, ask the person holding the ball to open any one and answer that question
  • 20. Acknowledgement  Create a Facebook page, Twitter handle, etc  Update the activities in the organization there  Mention all those employees who get rewarded / promoted/ win the games/ learn something new on these platforms  For safety purpose, create a closed group on Facebook
  • 21. Feedback System  Create a special email ID for feedbacks (ex: wecanimprove@xyz.com)  Ask employees to mail honest feedback  Set guidelines regarding the content of mails  Mails will go to HR  Useful to understand the needs of employees and areas of improvement
