Helicopters take off from next to the TV Tower Tuesday through Sunday from 9am to 7pm and fly over the Eixo Monumental at an altitude of 135m (450 ft.). Contact Esat Taxi Aéreo (tel.061/3323-8777; www.esataerotaxi.com.br). Cost is R$480 (US$240/£130) for four people.<br />Boat Tours -- Tours take place on the lake, Lago Paranoá. Leaving from ASBAC (yacht club in the Asa Sul, close to Setor de Embaixadas Sul), the 2-hour tour passes the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of the Brazilian president (not open to the public) and continues around the lake. It's a great way to see the city from the water. Contact Tôa Tôa (tel.061/9982-1161). Departures are at 10am and 2pm and the cost is R$20 (US$10/£5.40) per person.<br />Specialty Tours -- To take a specialized half-day architectural tour of the city, contactPrestheza Turismo, Patio Brasil Shopping, Sala 917 (tel. 061/3226-6224;www.prestheza.com.br). The company also offers a variety of other tours, such as a visit to the Vale do Amanhecer (Valley of the Dawn) spiritual community or to one of the national or regional parks in the area. Half-day tours start at R$80 (US$40/£22) per person.<br />I will choose specialty tours which are costing around 40$ a day per person for four days<br />40*5 = 200 $ = INR 9200<br />Boat tour for one day costing 10$<br />10$ = INR 460<br />So total will be Rs. 9660<br />lefttop<br />For travelling in the city<br />Brasilia's public transportation system is not very well developed and I'm afraid this won't be fixed soon (due to politics...quite a drama!). People who depend on it are often quite unsatisfied by the lack of quality of public transportation. The bus fare goes from R$2,00 to R$ 3,00 (about US$ 0.80 ~ US$ 1.30 in Oct.'06). You can get almost everywhere with the buses, but do ask for some help. The Central Bus Terminal has buses that go to everywhere in the city, while boarding, ask the driver or the other passengers if the bus goes to where you intend to go. Brasilia people are very kind to tourists. DO AVOID taking the vans (the alternative to buses)! The drivers are the worst ones (over speeding, driving dangerously and boarding more people than what it is supposed. Although it's not perfect, the buses are still the best way to move around in Brasilia if you don't have a car.<br />For the ones who can afford, renting a car is a good idea, but skip the car rentals at the airport, thy can charge double. But this tip aims at the taxi service. It is expensive, at least for Brazilian standards, but you can hire the 30% discount service. The meter is already regulated for the discount, so you needn't ask for it. One of the best companies (and the one I use when I need) is Alvorada, phone # 3321.3030. But you have to speak Portuguese or ask someone to call the service. It is better calling them - the taxis come quickly. Hailing may get you in a very expensive radio taxi...If you speak some Portuguese, try talking to the driver. They will usually have a nice story about how they came to Brasília and how it was a number of years ago.
