The various career options for nurses are:-
1. Hospital Nurses - The duties of a hospital nurse
usually include bedside care and the execution of
medical regimens. They also may be required to
supervise nursing aides or licensed practical nurses.
2. Office Nurses - The duties of an office nurse
primarily consist of outpatient care, such as preparing
patients for examinations, assisting with
examinations, administering medications, giving
injections, dressing wounds, and managing patients'
records. Office nurses may also be required to do
paperwork.

3. Nursing Facility Nurses - Nursing facility nurses
may spend lots of time on administrative tasks, but
they also attend to the health and needs of resident
patients. Registered nurses working in a nursing
facility may develop plans for treatments, supervise
nursing aides and licensed practical nurses, and
administer medications or invasive procedures. These
nurses may also work in specialized nursing facilities
designed for patients with specific needs.

in patients' homes, providing appropriate nursing
services.

5. Public Health Nurses - Public health nurses focus
on the health of individuals, families, and groups, in
an effort to improve general community well-being.
Public health nurses work in private or government
agencies like clinics, retirement communities, and
schools.
6. Occupational Health Nurses - Occupational
nurses give nursing care at worksites to employees,
patrons of the worksite, and others. The duties of an
occupational nurse may include providing emergency
care, filling out accident reports, and making
arrangements for the patient to receive any necessary
further care.

7. Head Nurses/Nurse Supervisors - Head nurses
usually work in hospitals, making schedules for and
directing the duties of nurses and nursing aides. Head
nurses are also usually required to monitor the care
that patients are receiving and to maintain records
and supply orders.

the highest levels of the profession, providing health
care for patients, diagnosing and arranging
treatments for some illnesses and injuries, and
prescribing medications.

9. Nurse midwives - Nurse midwives deliver babies,
care for and monitor the health of pregnant women,
and educate and guide new mothers.
16. BEGINNING OF CIN
Chinmaya Institute of Nursing was established in
April 1986 as an adjunct to the Chinmaya Mission
Hospital. The hospital provides clinical training
to nurses as a part of its programme for improving
patient care in general.
Chinmaya Institute of Nursing was started in 1986
with a two year course of Female Health
Assistants. This course was upgraded to diploma
in general nursing and midwifery in 1988. This
course was recognized by the government of
Karnataka and the Karnataka Nursing Council.

In 2009, the Diploma course changed to full
fledged degree of Bsc. Nursing programme with
the requisite permission from the government of
Karnataka and approved by the Indian Nursing
Council and Karnataka Nursing Council. This is
also affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of
Health Sciences.

37. LIBRARY
The Library is well ventilated, Spacious and furnished with Computer and
adequate chairs and tables. It has good collection of books and journals
relevant to the nursing course. Students are required to use library books
available in the library. Books are to be used with extreme care. If any book is
lost or damaged by a student the cost or the repair of the same shall be borne
by the student concerned.
38. HOSTEL
Hostel is a safe nest for students who are away from home. The hostel
is located in the same campus. It has got good infrastructure and
basic amenities like well furnished rooms, 24 hours water supply,
electricity with power backup, spacious dining hall, sick room and
round the clock security service which makes students feel
comfortable and provides a homely atmosphere.
Ragging is strictly prohibited. All students shall be resident in the
Hostel attached to the Institute and shall be under the direct care
and supervision of Warden.
39. CLINICAL POSTINGS
Clinical Postings will be given in Chinmaya Mission Hospital (No Fees). Students shall be
sent out to community field at Hoodi and posted to outside Hospitals for Psychiatry and
Midwifery postings. Payment of fees to outside Hospitals (other than CMH) and Primary
Health Centre will have to be made by students as required by those Hospitals. Students
would be accompanied by a member of the teaching faculty of Institute. The Chimaya
Mission Hospital, Indiranagar, provides clinical facilities in Surgical, Paediatric, Maternity
and other specialities like Eyes, Ear, Nose, Throat, Orthopedics, Skin and Oncology etc.
41. ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
We conduct regular classes for the students by excellent and experienced Faculties and the
students are gaining clinical experience in our Chinmaya Mission Hospital on all the days.
We conduct frequent tests, sessional examinations and model examinations for the
improvements of the students in both theory and practicals.
Additionally to create awareness among the students regarding “National Health
Programmes”, we conduct presentations, Seminors, workshops, role plays on “No Tobacco
Day”,” World Leprosy Day”, World Cancer Day”, AID’S Day, World Tuberculosis Day etc. The
students actively participate in the National Pulse Polio Programme every year.

We have a Student Nurses Association. Every year we conduct Sports day,
cultural programme, Freshers Day, Lamp Lighting & Graduation Ceremony etc.

The Chinmaya Institute of Nursing has established a project which is
called Chinmaya Primary Health Care Project at Vivekananda Ashram,
in Hoodi Village, running from May 1994 on wards. The Project aims at
providing health care & health education at the door steps of the
community in the following 4 villages, covering more than 15,000
population that is in Hoodi, Thigalarpalya, Rajpalya, & Basavanagar.
