Makerspaces are physical locations where people gather to share resources, knowledge, and work on projects together. They provide tools for digital fabrication and promote collaboration across arts, sciences, and other disciplines. Examples include hacker spaces, Fab Labs, and makers labs. Fab Labs share a common set of tools and processes according to the Fab Foundation, and have a mission to provide access to digital fabrication tools and education to allow anyone to make things and create opportunities. Funding for makerspaces can come from membership fees, rentals, classes, grants, and other sources.
