Web 2.0 toolsby Phil Russell Using the internet to share with a community of educators.
Why use web 2.0 tools? The use of web 2.0 tools allows educators to communicate with each other all around the world.  Teachers can share and collaborate plans, resources, and communicate changes in their subject areas.  The following web 2.0 tools help to make all of this possible.
Diigo Diigo allows users to bookmark and organize websites.  They can organize their websites with headings and provide a description of the website.   They can then share the Diigo page with people all around the world.
Google + is a social networking website similar to Facebook.  The major difference is that users can place their friends in sub groups.  For example one can place family members in a group, friends in another group, and co-workers in their own group. Separating the contacts on Google + allows users to only post the things they want posted to that specific group.  Co-workers can’t see what the user posts about their personal life, but they can see new ideas that the user has implemented in the classroom, share lesson plans, websites, videos and a lot more school related content.
Twitter is useful but may take time to get use to.  With twitter one can only share a quick few words about a topic.  They can then provide a link that shares more information.  For example if I read an interesting blog that I felt needed to be shared with a community of educators I could tweet about it and if they were interested they could click on the link to the blog.  To make the most of twitter one would need to follow people or educational organizations to receive their tweets and the user would need to be followed for others to see their tweets.
