Here’s a brief list to help you think about it and get started:

Product/service reviews (on your site and 3rd party sites)

3. Action #2: Building Reputation
When you have your list ready, now you need to figure out how to
begin building your reputation and increase positive reputation
indicators. Focus on the easy ones first, for example getting
testimonials is a lot easier than getting press mentions.
Here’s a list of ideas to get you started:

Post-sale phone call to ask for a testimonial and feedback.
Post-sale email to ask for product/service review (ecommerce).

4. Action #3: Marketing Reputation
Consider this, reputation indicators (testimonials, reviews, mentions,
etc.) are pieces of contet – just like a blog post or ebook or inforgraphic.
Promote them as if you’re promoting your other content. Here’s a few
ideas to get your started:
Display testimonials and reviews on your website, on all pages.
Include testimonials and reviews (including starts) in your
marketing collateral.
Share testimonials and reviews on your social media profiles.
Include ratings in your ads (AdWords has this feature).
Share press mentions on your social media profiles, write a blog
post about it and include it in the email.
Post video testimonials on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook.
Post video testimonials on your LinkedIn profile and page.
Use testimonial as your ad copy with a call to action.
Turn your testimonials and reviews into beautiful images to share
in social media, social networks and even photo sharing websites.
What else can you think of?
5. Action #4: Managing Reputation
To manage your reputation you need to do 2 main things: monitor and
engage. You need to monitor your reputation to understand what
others are saying about your business, and also when you need to
engage them to respond to a negative review or thank them for a
positive one. Always engage! Show them you care.
A few tools you can use to monitor your reputation.
Google Alerts – search results
Twilert.com – Twitter mentions
KGBpeople.com – you in search results
Hootsuite* – social media (use columns to filter searches)
Gagein.com – Google Alerts on steroids
Follow.net* – follow your website and competitors
Reputation.com – various reputation monitoring
Any other you can find that are relevant to your business?
6. Action #5: Create Culture
The key to building and maintaining a 5-Star reputation is culture! You
must take the time and resources to train your staff to work with your
customers resolving issues as humans do, not robotic responses.
Train your staff to always be asking for testimonials and feedback,
there’s nothing wrong about asking for them.
You’re only one customer away from bad reputation, and if an
employee has a bad day due to personal issues resolve it (maybe give
them a day off) rather than have them take it our on your customers.
Think prevention, not care!
Foster employee empowerment, so they can respond to negative
reviews and deal with issues on the spot. Over 90% of customers say
they will return to do business if an issue was resolved quickly and
efficiently.
Get your employees to follow Robin Sharma’s work.
Get them to read Go-Getter book, it’s free for Amazon Kindle.
Invest in professional customer service training programs.
For our customers, we offer unique training center with videos to help
build and foster reputation culture for their employees (including a quiz
to test their understanding).
Help them take ownership in their work, your business!
