The course is structured around 4 key areas of product management:
Identifying opportunities for product development
Validating if the opportunities are worthy the investment
Executing
Launching and iterating
Identify: it is a PM job to collect feedback from the market, stakeholders, internal business goals, customer feedback and convert into relevant and actionable product roadmap. You will be the source of ideas and main filter of information coming at you from various sources. Question, where do you think feedback is coming from?
Validate: how do you know what one person is saying is valuable? There are ways you can qualify opportunities by using quantitative data (company strategy alignment, domain experts feedback) and quantitative data (surveys, product analytics)
Execute: you have a great idea, you validate it is worth the effort what to do next? How to convert into smth engineers can actually execute on? PRDs, working with design, working with various product dev methods is the next steps
Launch: once feature is done and tested the work is not over. You need to collaborate with other teams to ensure feature is marketed, support is trained, customers have resources that allow them to utilize the feature
Iterate: PMs need to stick with the launched feature after it is launched to track usage, feedback and make decisions about potential iterations
